Not only do they have Christine O'Donnell, but the GOP (tea party) candidate who is running for Mike Castle's old congressional seat is also somewhat of a "character" as well.

"Do you know, where does this phrase 'separation of church and state' come from?" Urquhart asked at a campaign event last April. "It was not in Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptists. ... The exact phrase 'separation of Church and State' came out of Adolph Hitler’s mouth, that's where it comes from. So the next time your liberal friends talk about the separation of Church and State ask them why they’re Nazis."

What the . . . . .???

What’s even worse is that there are people who will believe that.

Minor pedantic note, both the original quote from Rawstory and Cleon's post mispell Adolf's first name. It's a common error, one that I have made myself in the past.

I noticed it, actually, I was just referencing the quote. Though I have seen it spelled "Adolph" a fair number of times.

oh ****, i didn't know that this is actually an idea oph the Nazis. I am pro Theocracy now.

Well pedantically (if that's a word) he is technically correct. Jefferson didn't write 'separation of Church and State'.
thus building a wall of separation between Church & State.
Not sure he's hanging his hat on the word 'between' versus 'of'. Pretty sure he's just a loon.

The National Government will regard it as its first and foremost duty to revive in the nation the spirit of unity and cooperation. It will preserve and defend those basic principles on which our nation has been built. It regards Christianity as the foundation of our national morality, and the family as the basis of national life.

Who said that? Someone on the Restore Honor Propaganda show or Hitler?

So this idiot is trying to be pedantic about the exact, word-for-word phrase?

In that case, I suggest it probably didn't come out of Hitler's mouth, either, after translation.

What's really sad is that half the audience clapped when he said it. The other half was kind of stunned.

Actually, seeing as how the TP-types have made a habit out of stacking those sort of crowds, this actually is an encouraging sign to me. But then, the moron won the primary

Tip of the iceberg.

President John Tyler, in 1843: "The United States have adventured upon a great and noble experiment, which is believed to have been hazarded in the absence of all previous precedent-that of total separation of Church and State."

You guys: John Tyler was a time-travelling Nazi. The next time your liberal friends talk about Back to the Future, ask them why they love Hitler so *********** much. Also, the next time you talk to Glen Urquhart, ask him if crystal meth is awesome.

I don't know. Could be, but:

I hope that this is not true, but that has to raise an eyebrow.

neighborhood code wars.

Maybe he should have gotten the building permit before putting a new roof on his house.

99.99% of code complaints originate with a neighbor.

You know whose was for separation of Church and State?

Just sayin'...

"Do you know, where does this phrase separation of Church and State come from? Does anybody know? ... Actually, that's exactly, it was not in Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptists. He was reassuring that the federal government wouldn't trample on their religion. The exact phrase 'separation of Church and State' came out of Adolph Hitler's mouth,

So sez Glen Urquhart, Delaware GOP House candidate, displaying his chops as a history buff. *Ahem*.
