What's worse: abortion or adoption.

Would you think less of a person who gave up their child, than if they had aborted it in the first place?? I'm thinking society sees giving up a child for adoption as a bigger failure. Which is kinda sad.

Im all for abortion rights, but I see nothing wrong with preaching the alternatives.

I don't think it is seen as a bigger failure. It is just that it is a more obvious one. With an abortion, very few people will ever know.

I've never seen this at all. I am 100% in favor of adoption over abortion and wish that adoption was simpler and less expensive than it currently is. Between legal fees and agency fees and any related travel fees, adoption is expensive. This is one reason why I have not adopted (I have no children) and wish something could be done about it. There is a long line of people waiting for adoption and less abortions would help.

There is a long line of people waiting for adoption and less abortions would help.

There is also a very long line up of children waiting to be adopted. The problem is they're no longer babies, or have medical problems.

Perhaps when we get rid of all the kids in orphanages and/or foster care, we can start saying that we need more kids available for adoption.

I would prefer abortion over adoption. Adoption agencies are already flooded with unwanted children, many of which will never be adopted because they are "too old" or "don't look right." I would have less of a problem with adoption if there was a guarantee that the baby would be adopted.

This is true, but if the children who are currently being aborted were born and then placed up for adoption instead, they would be babies at the time of adoption and most of them would not have serious medical problems. Since the number of healthy children available does not seem to affect the willingness of people to adopt children with health problems, I don't see this as a concern.

Except for that:
- Not all babies being aborted would actually be totally healthy. Some may have minor (or major) medical defects. So, you can't guarantee that ALL the crop of non-aborted babies would find homes
- Its my hope that some of these eager parents may just decide to lower their standards and take a kid who is a couple of years old, if the wait for an infant is too long

Either way, if a prospective parent is selfish enough to demand only a newborn infant with absolutely no health problems, then I say let them wait.
