Honeybees all around the world are dying, fast. Some bee farmers have lost over 90% of their bees in the past couple months.

Over the years, plants, vegatables, and most green things have adapted to have a relationship with bees. The plants did not develop alternative ways to spread pollen because bees always did the work.

IF THE BEES DISAPPEAR, MOST OF US WILL DISAPPEAR.

It will take many many years for the plants to recover and adapt to the loss of bees. In that time, we die.

Not in 50 years, not even 10. This could have such consequences that if this goes on like this next year we could be seeing the downfall of our civilzation within the next 5 years.

No crops next year means we starve the following year.

I think the NWO has already struck the final blow with this bee thing...this is bad, real bad.

BUT! This thread isn't really about him. I guess.

I haven't heard a peep about any sort of crisis in the world's bee population, so I did some investigoogling. I can't find anything(!) in the ostensibly non-crazy media that actually addresses the question without the tone of someone running around like their hair is on fire and their ass is catching. So far, I can find 4 major schools of thought:

* OMG the bees are all dying and we're going to starve and it's because of cell phones

* OMG the bees are all dying and we're going to starve and it's because of a particular parasitic mite

* OMG the bees are all dying and we're going to starve and it's because of genetically modified crops

* OMG the bees are all dying and we're going to starve and it's because of the George W. Bush.

So, what's the deal? Have the Zionists finally found a way to do us all in? Muslims seem to think that bees are themselves Muslims because they apparently obey Sharia law (I didn't write it; don't ask me).

Can anyone enlighten me as to the details of my impending doom?

You left out the chemtrail nuts. OMG

I have 1000 percent more almonds this year than last year, are the bees working over time this year to make up for the ones missing?

Has this been going on for years, cause last year we had 700 perent more walnuts than the year before.

But then we have planted hundreds of trees and plants, maybe the bees like the plants and have moved to our yard.

three of many more legitimate stories re: bee die outs in part of US over last 6-7 years. explanations of why it is not a good thing.

I believe that advanced western countries can, if they want to, quickly find new ways to grow food. But the Third world countries can get into serious trouble.

are bees relied upon globally for plant pollinaton? I don't ever remember seeing them in asia (not that i was especially looking mind...), there were humming birds though, can they carry the same workload?

Someone e-mailed me this story. Is The Independent some sort of tabloid?

In the section about cell phones causing cancer, it actually says, "Evidence of dangers to people from mobile phones is increasing. But proof is
still lacking, largely because many of the biggest perils, such as cancer,
take decades to show up."

Hmm. . the evidence is increasing but proof is still lacking. Oh boy!

Well, technically the Independent is a tabloid, in that it is a paper published in a small format, but it is traditionally considered on of the UK’s “broadsheet” or “quality” newspapers.

The entire ethos of the Independent is that it takes no party political stance (unlike virtually every other UK national newspaper), and this often translates into “giving both sides a hearing” on other matters, so you can expect woo in the name of “balance”.

I'm cross posting from another forum, so my apologies, but the Independent article appears very lacking:

“Evidence of dangers to people from mobile phones is increasing. But proof is still lacking, largely because many of the biggest perils, such as cancer, take decades to show up.”

- Is this really a fair comment, is there any evidence? Sure enough population specific statistical trials take a long time to run but does the peril of cancer really take decades to show up.

“Finnish study found that people who used the phones for more than 10 years were 40 per cent more likely to get a brain tumour on the same side as they held the handset.”

- From what little I remember from this study there was no evidence to suggest that the use of a mobile phone was linked to the brain tumour generation.

“doctors have identified the condition of "text thumb", a form of RSI from constant texting.”

- Surely RSI texting injuries have bugger all association with bees, unless bees are more capable than I’m aware of.

“Professor Sir William Stewart, who has headed two official inquiries, warned that children under eight should not use mobiles and made a series of safety recommendations, largely ignored by ministers.”

- Again from what I remember from the Stewart report he claimed that there was no known negative health impact from the use of mobile phones but recommended caution for the young, and was this really ignored by “ministers.

Your recollection matches mine, and IIRC guidance was issued stating that children should not spend long period on mobile phones, however no further government action was taken, but then what legitimate government action could be take in this area?
Banning children from using mobiles? Even if one thought this a legitimate use of government, the evidence certainly would not warrant it.

Driving while using a cellphone is dangerous. Just imagine how dangerous it is to fly while using one. Cellphones really are killing off bees because they keep crashing.

:dl:

Have a talk to Joshua Korosi about that!

On the less-light side of cellphone use while driving, we've had a spate of teenagers ending up dead thanks to typing text messages while driving.

As noted, The Independent tries to be just that, taking no side whenever possible.

It does make it a little prone to being too "fair" when stupid subjects come up, but it is, in my opinion, the world's best newspaper.

The bee mystery has been solved. Ed Dames investigated the problem using remote viewing and discussed his findings with Art Bell the last two weekends on COAST TO COAST A.M.

Put simply, the bees have been blinded by excessive amounts of ultraviolet light escaping through holes in the ozone layer. As a result, the bees can't find their hives, nor can they find flowers.

Case closed.

No further conjecture or speculation on this topic is needed.

Saved everyone a lot of time specualting.
