Every few months, Glenn Beck announces his great NEW direction, it's going to change everything, don't miss it, here it comes (and subscribe to GBTV if you want the full details...)

He announced his latest today, which he said incorporates everything he's been doing the last 3 years, and sets his path for the next 8 years.

Mercury One.

It seems to be a combination of a charitable/service organization, and a political/religious one. It takes donations to apparently support and connect volunteers to those causes it believes in.

He is also arranging a big new event, on 7/28/2012 at the Dallas Cowboys' stadium, called Restoring Love. But this time, he's charging money for it (proceeds of which he is giving to charity: I expect to Mercury One).

From the Mercury One mission statement:

Our goal is that each and every like-minded citizen does everything they can to be prepared for whatever may come. Prepared for emergencies, both big and small, natural and man-made. Have the food storage, medicine and necessities available, not only for your family, but to share with others in your neighborhood, church and community. Mercury One will act as a guide to mobilize Americans to assist each other as well as first responders: physically, emotionally and spiritually. We must give a hand up and not a hand out, while caring for the elderly and nurturing the young.

Mercury One will be funded without tax dollars through Glenn’s clothing line 1791, The Original Blueprint and the generosity of the American people.

It sounds clever. In the past, much of his fear mongering went to support his sponsors (food insurance, goldline, etc). Perhaps he wanted a bigger piece of that pie. Now, he can continue to spout doomsday scenarios, and offer people a place where they can send money directly, tax free, without all that annoying sponsor interference.

I knew you'd want to know.

Well, those aren't the worst clothes I've ever seen. Lotsa buffalo tho.

It was a mis-translation. He actually has a *clothes* line. I am, of course, happy for him but don't get the significance...

Is he in a jar yet?

That's funny.... I thought the Skull and Bones society was founded in 1832.

...be funded without tax dollars ...

So does this mean Mercury One will not be an actual 501(c) organization, will pay their taxes, and not be required to make certain financials public?

Is Mercury One recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt 501(c)3 charity?
Mercury One has filed with the IRS to be a tax-exempt 501(c)3 charity and our application is pending.

Oh I see, the lack of tax subsidy is temporary.

What, you haven't been to a bookstore to see all the stuff people ghostwrote for him?

Sorry, but I have not thought about Beck in a while now.

Does he still apply a bit of "Vicks Vapo-Rub" to his eyes so that he can cry on camera?
