James Randi ARRESTED

MORE TO COME BREAKING NEWS

James "the Amazing" Randi was arrested at his home in Plantation Florida on charges of child pornography.

Check my site for updates and a copy of the arrest report. Props to Lindsay Colton for helping with this.

In addition to the $5,000 reward for capturing the Indonesians, there will be another reward for information on Randi's crimes.

Interesting how he doesn't link to any reputable news sources.

the link links to the blogers sown site, which fails to have any information about these disgusting allegations on it whatsoever, let alone the copy of the "arrest report" promised.

"religious freedom watch" is notorious for this kind of libel.

I am a super layman when it comes to laws, but isn't it illegal to make these kinds of accusations without any evidence whatsoever?

The only "news" here is that people like this can sink even lower than I thought...

.... no, wait, that isn't even news to me

Where I live? yes it is. In the USA? I have no idea. Where this blog is published and hosted? again, no idea.

I talked with Randi just now. He was in his office at the JREF. He said that he was not under arrest, and the matter is being handled.

That's good to hear. Even if I am not really surprised at how low some can sink. I would be surprised if they are allowed to get away with such slander.

I wonder if there is any connection to the 1993 case? It is truly sad how low someone would sink to do nothing more then advance their own agenda.

Maybe this is obvious, but I think this guy knows he is very much in the wrong and will maybe take some heat, but is hoping the stigma will get attention and "stick".

I haven't heard of this case. What was it about?

I think these people are so full of hate, they think the persons they hate could do any horrible things, so they might as well spread the rumor that they have, because in their twisted minds they think it just as well could be true. So why not lie about it if it serves their agendas  These people are truly despicable!!

Fair Game my ASS! This is a low, low act.

To be clear "fair game" is the name which L Ron “old mother” Hubbard dreamed up for his nasty cults policy of slandering, libelling, blackmailing and harassing anyone who they felt harmed their cause. Everything done under "fair game" is a low, low act.

I thought the blog was trying to be a parody/expose of religious freedom watch, as RFW are not upfront about their scientology dealings. In which case it's odd for the expose blog to be spreading slander about RFW's targets, rather than going after RFW itself.

There could be some kind of subtle humour here that passed me by. I just don't see what the point of it was.

And why the link to RFW? They had nothing to say on James Randi.

I think so too. Once such rumors are started, no matter if it's all thoroughly debunked, there will always be people who will wonder if there isn't something to it anyway. I think these people are very well aware of this.

I'll preface this with I've not done any checking beyond a quick google search, so if this is wrong I have no problem with anyone pointing that out.

As posted on skepticfiles, which references a Baltimore Sun article from 1993:

Skepticfiles.com said:
A federal jury ruled yesterday that "The Amazing Randi," a magician,
defamed a Finksburg scientist by calling him a child molester but
the panel did not award any monetary damages.

The story/article goes on to point out that that Mr Byrd (the scientist in question) had collected pornographic materials of girls ages 9 - 16.

Thanks for the link. Oh my, nasty business all around there. You think this now could then be some sort of revenge?
