Then I would jump to conclusions like the entire truth movement has or I would just realize that Sulfur is in drywall, Aluminum those two big fast bullet type things that hit the wtc were Aluminum and Iron oxide...well that is a problem since there was no rusted iron in the wtc.

Depending on the value of the variable "appreciable", it would be perfectly reasonable to want an explanation for how it got there. The problem, though, is in your definitions. What is "thermite" in this sense? The components and combustion products of thermite are all elements and compounds that would be expected to be found in the remains of WTC1 & 2. So, to re-frame the question:

What if unexpected chemicals were to be found in the remains of WTC1 & 2, and possible sources for these chemicals included a thermite reaction?

One would then have to ask what other possible sources might exist. If they could all be eliminated, or at least shown to be significantly less probable than any scenario involving the use of thermite to initiate or facilitate the collapse of the Twin Towers, then I would support a serious investigation into the possibility that something of that sort had been carried out. However, given the known difficulty of cutting even a small vertical structural member using thermite, the improbability of any scenario that has been so far proposed, and the inability of anyone to suggest a plausible motive for ensuring the destruction of the towers that is in any way commensurate with the risk of detection incurred, there is a very high bar to be cleared before I would consider any thermite hypothesis worth considering, even if some physical evidence suggesting thermite were available.

It would be like finding a gun at the scene of a stabbing. No evidence it was used, no reason to suspect it was used, no way for it to have achieved the effects witnessed.

It would be shown that some careless employee who moonlights for CD forgot it in his locker.

One might as well ask "what if aliens were found at the crash site of UA93?".

I fail to see the point of hypothesising fantasies.
