We should all bear in mind that cataclysmic war may not begin today.

What is the significance of Aug. 22? This year, Aug. 22 corresponds, in the Islamic calendar, to the 27th day of the month of Rajab of the year 1427. This, by tradition, is the night when many Muslims commemorate the night flight of the prophet Muhammad on the winged horse Buraq, first to "the farthest mosque," usually identified with Jerusalem, and then to heaven and back (cf Koran XVII.1). This might well be deemed an appropriate date for the apocalyptic ending of Israel and if necessary of the world. It is far from certain that Mr. Ahmadinejad plans any such cataclysmic events precisely for Aug. 22. But it would be wise to bear the possibility in mind.

So, Bernie Lewis is precipitously close to not winning the JREF million. He still has time to get his app. in and make something happen.

This might just be some crazy scaremongering on his part though. It was worth a stab. He could've hit on something. You never know.

Like I said, my bomb shelter isn't ready yet....soon though...

I'm gonna bet the day passes without anything unusual happening.

Oh sure, Mycroft. Post your prediction after it's already passed.

You all should be thanking Bernie Lewis for calling the Iranians out on their plans beforehand so they couldn't do anything. Once they knew the jig was up, they had to kibosh the whole thing. They knew they had to stand down once Bernie Lewis was on the scene.

What do you need a bomb shelter for? Remember, we're fighting them there so there is no way they'll attack us here. They can't! We're fighting them there!

Presumably this flying horse has not just powerful wings, but also rocket engines for space travel, and the ability to create a continuously-replenished bubble of air around the head of the rider. Oh, wait, Heaven isn't in our plane of reality, so this horse must also have reality-warping-jumping powers as well.

What an astounding work of genetic engineering it must be! Although I suppose it could be just a one-off, with none of these abilities encoded in its DNA.

I'm still here.
