This is from the Hollywood Reporter:

The Gist:

Author, Gerald Brittle, says the movies infringe on his 1980 book, The Demonologist, which first detailed the accounts of Ed & Lorraine Warren. He claims he had exclusive rights " to create derivative works based on the Warrens' cases.".

The best part?

It's a common argument raised during copyright dust-ups involving true life tales. Here, though, Brittle's legal team says it has an ace in the hole: The Demonologist isn't historical fact because the Warrens lied about what happened in their stories.

I'll keep an eye on this one because it looks nasty.

More than likely they'll settle for a smaller amount. SOP for Hollywood.

I don't think they'll care too much, as their latest Horror offering (IT 2017) looks set to do very well and is already breaking records 5 months before release.

The 900 million amount is ridiculous. This is a nuiscance suite. He will be lucky if he gets 900'000.
