Rachel Maddow this morning had as a guest a Rev. Rick Scarborough (sp?, no relation to Joe, apparently) who organized a conference in DC this week on the "War on Christianity"

All the usual stuff from him (liberal courts, evolution, abortion, Tom DeLay is a victim of religious persecution).

It made me think of that satiric list of evidence that there is this war on christianity. I know it has been linked here on occasion, but a preliminary search of the forums came up empty. Does anyone have a link to that? I want to send it to Maddow.

Sorry for the consecutive posts, but I wanted to put my opinion in a different post than the link to the article itself.

Beyond my disgust at the topic itself, I was very disappointed when I reached the end of the article and read the "rebuttal":
"This 'war' is nothing real," [Rev. Barry] Lynn said in a telephone interview with Cox News Service. "The fact is Christians in America are a cultural majority, and they are an extremely powerful group. But what you have here are second-tier preachers who are hoping to hit the big time, desperately hoping for a national spotlight ... ."
There are so many better arguments against this "War on Christianity" than the ad hom attack the Houston Chronicle decided to print. I suppose they were playing to a certain segment of their audience -- pretending to be showing both sides while making the opposing side seem petty.

I don't know, I think that is not so far from an accurate depiction of what's going on.

He addressed the issue "Christians are the cultural majority, and they are an extremely powerful group."

But he also addressed the motivation. These are wannabees who are hoping to hit big time.

See my comment in the thread in P&CE. Scarborough, the organizer, admitted on Rachel Maddow this morning that the whole "War on Christian" thing is hyperbole (his word!) used to generate media attention.
