The British court system has said that Wakefield's co-author is to be exonerated from all defamation due to the actions of the GMC in striking his medical standing. There is no practical conclusion, as Walker-Smith retired in 2001, but the news article suggests that this may have a great influence on Wakefield's defamation proceeding on-going in Austin, TX.

The source is not a regular new network, so I have no idea about the veracity of their claims. The story appears to have been written by someone in the Canary Party, a Canadian anti-big drug organization claiming 5000 members.

I was just going to point out that PRweb is just a Press Release distribution system that tries to feed press releases into news outlets as described in this dated article.

But as I was pulling that up you updated and now I'm not sure my comment even matters since the BBC article seems to be more balanced, at least on cursory comparison. Not bitter or anything, nope, not bitter.

This is rather old news and Walker-Smith's exoneration has absolutely nothing to do with Wakefield other than his rabid fan base wishing it were so. Wakefield didn't appeal the GMC ruling, Walker-Smith did so the Wakefieldites have co-opted Walker-Smith's successful appeal. All very bizarre but there you go.

The "Canary Party" is nothing more than the quasi-political arm of the whackos who inhabit Age of Autism, a blog which has devoted itself to claiming vaccines cause autism, there is a "tsunami" of autism and autistic children should have horrible abuses heaped upon them to purge them of the ebil autisticooties.

I really wish I was joking.
