Soapy Sam, all the world's media say pink, so obviously, you are wrong.

Here are the last 24 pictures. If you look at the daylight pictures, you'll see that its colour is about halfway between magenta and pink.
 
It warms my heart to see that even in the higher echelons of scientific study there is always a bit of room for levity! I wonder if he will melt?

Reg- I suspect the lads & lasses who get to check these webcams are a long way from the higher echelons of anything.
Come to think of it, I can't seem to recall meeting anyone in NZ over the age of about thirty. Must be the outdoor life. Or they die young.

Anyway. I reckon it's an escaped Balrog from LOTR.

I like the idea of hacking the feed and sending scenes from a Godzilla film to the monitors.
