Van Praagh has no new ideas

I'll start by offering $20.00 toward the purchase of a ticket for this cruise for Mr. Randi. Anyone else want to donate? :D

Of course, this all depends on whether or not Mr. Randi wants to waste his time with this buffoon.

ETA: Perhaps Jon Ronson may be interested?

I'll put up $100.00 dollars Canadian...and I am serious...never mind $200.00 American whatever it takes. Anyone else willing to send Randi along to rain on the woo parade?

Okay my brother just commited $200.00 bucks US for this good cause, anyone else, lets make it happen.

I think we want to keep the old guy around a little longer, not give him an aneurysm from the pain of having to witness that b.s.

I would not spend one red cent on a ticket, and I suggest no-one else does. It will all go ONLY into giving Van Praagh an all-expenses-paid luxury Alaskan holiday. It's all about the money, folks - VP would not care one jot if Randi came along...as long as Randi paid up!

A better response would be some way to make it a major financial loss for VP. Thinking-caps on!

I seem to remeber someone coming up with that idea first. Imagine the jref went on a cruise at the same time and we ran into each other on the boat...oh man.

Yeah, well if we were in the situation where we were both on a cruise at the same time I would certainly recommend running into the other cruise. I mean, you have to figure the bow of a cruise ship is going to be especially strong, compared to the rest of the ship. What you'd want to do, as far as running into the other cruise would be to try to hit a mid-ships as hard as possible and try to break the keel.

If necessary you could back up and try to ram in multiple places to break as many compartments as possible. Obviously, if you do this, you're going to mangle the front of your own ship, so it's a calculated risk. If you close all the hatches and evacuate any bellow in front you can probably do it without mortal damage to the ship. Especially if you have a bulbous bow which can give a good hit bellow the water line. Those are usually heavily reinforced.

The fact that you may end up with the bow very severely damaged and just limp back to port for extensive repairs would be little price to pay to come out from such an engagement victorious!

Although the idea is amusing, it would be a dumb idea for him to go on the cruise. His followers (or at least half of them I guess) would be well acquainted with Randi and I'm sure they all know what a skeptic is and what a skeptic thinks about JVP. They don't care, they're paying their money to get read and they would only see Randi as attacking JVP and themselves and taking their reading time away. Sometimes (this sounds familiar) - you just have to let people have their fun, even if it's not what you would choose for them to do.

What would be more fair and might have a greater impact is if one or two of you guys went, if you let James read you, listened respectfully and challenged what he was saying to you then and there (instead of just a wholesale attack on psychics). Even then though, I'm sure JVP would shut you down quickly and not come back to you so it'd be a waste unless you're really going for the food!

Yeah I've been in such positions. You may have all the facts on your side and be debating a complete idiot, but you still "loose" if you have a hostile audience who is already in the pocket of the other party. If you had enough people or even a large enough number of undecideds you could get by but you can't when you're against an audience who will only boo you no matter what.
