Q: What is cosmetic surgery's new frontier?
A: Laser vaginal rejuvenation surgery

That's why the 39-year-old board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist recently opened the Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Institute of Washington in a red brick townhouse off Washington Circle. There, he is building a business as the first area physician to perform controversial procedures that use a laser to enhance sexual gratification by repairing tissue damaged by childbirth, to give women a "youthful aesthetic look" or to make those who are not appear to be virgins.

First, what exactly constitutes a youthful aesthetic look...down there? Second, shouldn't this "clinic" be properly called the Laser Vulval Rejuvenation Institute? Unless, of course, recipients of this fancy procedure are doing it just for their OB/GYN, since most others lack the proper equipment to really see up inside the vagina.

And speaking of word choice, a NY high school has just suspended three students for using the word "vagina" in a reading of...get this..."The Vagina Monologues."

John Jay High School Principal Richard Leprine said the girls were punished because they disobeyed orders not to say the word "vagina." The school is in Cross River.

Their stand is being applauded by Eve Ensler, the author of "The Vagina Monologues," who said the girls were right for "standing up for art and against censorship." Ensler called the school's position "a throwback to the Dark Ages."

Maybe they should have used the word "vulva."

Or maybe even, "Hooha," as did the Atlantic Theaters, when they modified their marquee after a driver complained about finding the word "vagina" offensive.

It's vagina madness, I tell you. Madness!

"...Matlock, the flamboyant California gynecologist who invented or popularized many of these surgeries, says he has performed more than 3,000 in the past 12 years and has trained 140 doctors in a dozen states and 20 countries..."

I wouldn't want THIS GUY anywhere near my hoohah, I mean, if I had one.

stupid post deleted.

Huh? I actually read your post, read the article you linked to, and planned to come up with a cool reply. :curse

No false excuses now for deleting it, I do have a screenshot. It wasn't stupid, was it?

I wonder if this is the same guy who bleaches girls' butt-holes to remove the natural brown skin coloring there.

Maybe, being skeptics, we should focus on this part of the story:
One of the most vociferous critics is Thomas G. Stovall, a past president of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons. "There is absolutely zero scientific literature that supports . . . the notion that firing a laser of any kind will tighten [vaginal] muscles," said Stovall, who calls the surgery "a ripoff."

Does it actually work, or is it a rip-off?

I agree as skeptics vagina we should focus on vagina whether this proceedure has scientific validity vagina rather than harp on vagina how often we vagina bring up the topic relating to vagina that part of the female anatomy vagina.

about the surgery- ive seen people get that on some plastic surgery shows, and i dont blame them. Having a large labia can make sex painful for some women, and one women had a torn labia from childbirth. ouch. it continued to hurt her during sex after it healed up so she got the hanging bit lobbed off. Childbirth puts the body and vagina through many changes, and having a stretched out vagina can make sex less pleasurable. I dont see anything wrong with wanting to have better sex. I feel bad for women who want the surgery just to try and having a better looking vagina, feeling like thier vaginas are ugly. But there are practical reasons for both of the surgeries.

high school girls- RAAAA! VAGINA WARRIORS UNITE! :) im proud of them too.

You know, I'm all for removing the brown from butt-holes. I've seen a few butt-holes in my time, and not all of them are brown. I'm not at all convinced that's the natural skin coloring down there.

/misogynistic sexual reference/
Obviously, what we need is thorough testing to determine whether this technique can actually produce a tighter vagina
/misogynistic sexual reference/

In all seriousness, how do we judge the effects of ANY cosmetic surgery scientifically? Isn't beauty in the eye of the beholder?

^^^it usually matches the nipples, and is quite natural.

Well, my nipples are pink. I've never looked at my own butt-hole, but I hope it's pink too. If I ever discover it's brown, I'll go have it laserd pink.

Dammit, now I have to go find a mirror...

I put "laser vaginal rejuvination" into Google and found sites with both before and after pictures and video.

Actually, I'm kinda hoping. The attention-whore in me is comming out. :)

Wow! We're talking about laser surgery on vaginas when there are kids (in New York apparently) who can't even SAY vagina in school. I guess that state won't be turning out any noteworthy "groinicologists." ;)
