US Embassy explosion in Athens

(from the link) November 17 carried out a similar rocket attack against the U.S. embassy in 1996, causing minor damage and no injuries.

I don't watch much TV news, but I have been fascinated lately by a gradual change in CNN's coverage of breaking news. They seem to have a real dilemma between keeping to their programmed news magazine format, and, well, reporting actual news.

The other day we were treated to several hours of ominous and speculative coverage of a bad smell in New York - in a slow news slot?

But the night of an attack on a US Embassy, it would have preempted Larry King live's interview with the Crocodile Hunter's Widow Terry. Now maybe that would be rude, but the short clip from Greek television was of massive chaos and many police and rescue trucks surrounding the compound.
