In President Trump's mission to remove all DEI initiatives, this is the latest to be taken down.

But does it dishonour America's Black servicemen in WWII? The USA then was segregated and few people probably even know of the all-Black division known as the Black panthers.

The 761st Tank Battalion was an independent tank battalion of the United States Army during World War II. Its ranks primarily consisted of African American soldiers, who by War Department policy were not permitted to serve in the same units as White troops; the United States Armed Forces did not officially desegregate until after World War II. The 761st were known as the Black Panthers after their distinctive unit insignia, which featured a black panther's head, and the unit's motto was "Come out fighting". Decades after the war, the unit received a Presidential Unit Citation for its actions. In addition, a large number of individual members also received medals, including one Medal of Honor, eleven Silver Stars and approximately 300 Purple Hearts.[

Then there was a recent Netflix programme about a Black female unit, also in WWII sent to sort out the postal system in Europe and the treatment they faced and overcame in the face of adversity 'The Six Triple Eight'.

BBC writes:

Donald Trump's move to block diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives has led to the US Air Force removing material on the role of black and female pilots during World War Two from its training programmes.

A military official said "immediate steps" were taken to remove material to "ensure compliance" with the US president's order, the BBC's US news partner CBS reported.

Trainee troops were previously shown footage of pioneering servicemen and women as part of DEI courses during basic military training. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c74e175p40qo

It seems a shame these pioneers (?) are to be relegated to the dustbin of history by Trump.

While that's certainly true, I wonder if the air force attempted plausible deniability.
The row seems to be Trump's demand that all DEI material be immediately taken down. The US Airforce has removed a video from its training course specifically about the Tuskegee Airmen. One argument appears to be that the inclusion of the Tuskegee Airmen in training has nothing to do with DEI, hence the anger.

It's not dei, it's history, and one that the air force should promote, but I guess Trump, et al, and maga weirdos have a problem with reality, expecially when it comes in conflict with their inherent racism.

... and sexism

It's not an illegal order. So whatever the Air Force brass may think personally or professionally, and I'm sure they are recoiling, they have to do it.
Even if it were illegal, experience tells us Trump and his maga stooge administration wouldn't care.

Yeah, that too. Hegseth doesn't want women in the military. They should be in the kitchen, like his three wives. Until he tired of them and inpregnates the next Ex-missus Hegseth.

If it was an illegal order, the Air Force brass could refuse to do it, regardless of what the racist & sexist Trump cabinet thinks.
How can it be illegal if the President has ordered it in his position as President, the SCOTUS has made it clear that the President officially doing something makes it legal. Never mind the "and whose army"?

It's not dei, it's history
But teaching the history of black people is soooooo DEI and thus should be omitted. Remember an important part of fighting DEI is fighting the teaching of the history of minorities. Learning about segregation in the military would make people hate white people and thus we need to not teach it.

I look forward to seeing how slavery will be reinterpreted - a skills acquisition programme for immigrants from developing countries in Africa perhaps.
