Up To 50 Wounded As Heavily-Armed Man "Opens Fire" In German Cinema Complex

I am not sure it counts as mass shooting :

The man had fired at least one shot at the Kinopolis complex in Viernheim, near Frankfurt.

At least 20 people are said have been injured - many apparently as the result of a release of tear gas in a confined space.

Or am i missing soemthing ? I am off to look at german news.

4 shots, nobody killed (except the guy) and the police think there is no terrorismus in play, just somebody which was not fully sane (or as they politely says : very confuse).

4 time shots:
Der mutmaßliche Täter sei maskiert gewesen und ersten Erkenntnissen zufolge mit einer Langwaffe in den Kinokomplex eingedrungen, es seien vier Schüsse gefallen.

Not terrorism , confuse person:
Bei der Geiselnahme in einem Viernheimer Kino gibt es nach einer ersten Einschätzung der Sicherheitsbehörden vermutlich keinen terroristischen Hintergrund. Bei dem Mann habe es sich mutmaßlich um einen verwirrten Einzeltäter gehandelt, hieß es am Donnerstag nach Informationen der Deutschen Presse-Agentur aus Sicherheitskreisen weiter.

but, but, but how did the shooter get a gun? they are illegal in Germany.

Guns are not illegal in Germany. There are greater restrictions on ownership and use compared to the U.S.

My wife's uncle in Lower Saxony hunts squirrels on his property and the forests are dotted with hunting blinds.

Current laws

Thanks for the info and the link sir. Much appreciated.

I didn't think they were illegal, I was pretty sure they were just heavily regulated.

Well self-defense is not reason enough to get one, which makes it almost illegal, especially for hand guns.

And yet when pro guns keep saying us there are other uses for weapons, like collection (allowed in Germany) sport (allowed) and hunt (allowed). Are you telling us they are misusing those as example on why weapon should be allowed ? I am shocked.

No, it doesn't. Illegal isn't an "almost" situation. It is or it isn't. In this case, it isn't, and I think "self-defense" is a ******** reason to have a gun in the first place. Take the very country we're talking about. There's less gun violence, and it's harder to get a gun.

Now CNN is reporting that there were no injuries at all and the gunman is dead. They say they are correcting earlier reports which claimed some injuries.
