Ha, I posted my educated, well thought out, researched theory in the London car bomb thread, and then Fox News takes credit for my idea!

And I see they used that damn question mark again...

ETA: Damn, just go here.

Agreed. Whatever your position on universal healthcare, that's just silly.

Unbelievably idiotic.

No, no - "unbelievably idiots" are the ones who buy that. And I guess that Fox assumes that the majority of their viewers will buy that.

So the more important question is: Do they? And if so: Why are these Fox viewers in question so dumb?

This is a serious question.

I don't think they think their viewers will buy it per se. The idea that universal health care is bad because it leads to terrorism is probably a bit too far fetched for anyone to accept all at once. People will merely take from this the vague message of "Universal health care is bureaucratic, and beaurocracy is bad and can lead to sneakiness!" which is technically kind of true, although in a very misleading way.

In my opinion, this should be interpreted not as people giving a completely over the top reason to not support universal health care, but instead as people using a strained excuse to discuss universal health care at all (and in a negative way) in response to a news story which is only thinly connected to it. Which is shameless in its own way, of course.

Oh, I dunno. I'm now waiting till one of the usual suspects actually does try stating that in a thread here.

I never would have believed that FOX news would so much try to out-Goebbels Goebbels till this happened, but it's a real sign of the very nasty culture war going on in the USA, directed against internal dissent (the campaign there for some sort of universal, affordable health care) as much as a campaign directed against social systems in the EU and elsewhere. It may be well a haphazard, loose campaign, but one it certainly is.

That made me laugh.

It might sound extreme, but if anyone in the world knows about Goebbels-Propaganda Techniques, it's the Media and Politics.

But Fox is the King, I guess:
