'Unfit to be Commander-in-Chief'

Well, everyone's entitled to their opinion I guess. I have my own about Bush's fitness for that role, but I'll keep it to myself on this occasion. ;)

Several problems.

The article doesn't say on what grounds Kerry is unfit. Therefore, despite the protestations of Burkett, it sounds like that it's politically motivated.

Even if John Kerry was a lousy soldier in some area, it doesn't necessarily mean he would be a lousy president. Of course, it would be easier to see how relevant his incompetence in service -if any- if the people with the petition actually said what their problem was.

If Kerry is unfit to serve as Commander-in-Chief, you still have the basic problem that Bush is a blithering, incompetant buffoon- who to vote for?

I would be very happy if you voted for Nader. :D

I'm almost ready to except for the fact that lack of desire for four more years of Bush presidency is far greater than my lack of desire to vote for Kerry.

You know, 4 years ago I thought Bush was unfit to be Prez.

I would have rather voted for Dick Cheney, would rather still. The thing that Bush brings to the table is a good team. I voted for Dick Cheney. I voted for Colin Powell.

Kerry needs to get a team together and soon. These elections are less about the figurehead than the starting lineup.

Your problem is

a) Cheney is one of the driving forces for the current doctrine that is behind the war. To a large extent, when you criticise Bush, you are really criticising Cheney.
b) Powell was frozen out long ago. When he realised that he was there only to be used, he decided against being part of the second term team.

Yeah, well, I'd prefer a dolt who can't work out how he got into a lose/lose situation any day. Now, if I was into anti-american glee, I would be happy that the US has egg on it's face for starting a war everyone with half a brain, (including Colin Powell), said could end up exactly where it has ended up.

AUP, it is not necessarily Cheney himself who has been doing this. Bush is a puppet for PNAC and the religious right.

b) Powell was frozen out long ago. When he realised that he was there only to be used, he decided against being part of the second term team.

Bob Woodward actually covered this point quite thoroughly in his new book, "Plan of Attack". In fact, at the very begenning he shows how very pessimistic Colin Powell is.

...
No kidding.

Kerry cannot be worse than Bush.

Yeah, we need someone who needed his daddy to get him out of fulfilling his duties in the service. Someone who failed in every business attempt. Someone nearly outsmarted by a pretzel.

Look up "Miserable failure" on Google.

The article and people doing this very carefully skate around WHY they feel Kerry is unfit. First of all, what makes someone "fit" to be Commander in Chief? A few years National Guard duty taken to avoid active combat?

No, these veterins are upset about the anti-war stance Kerry took after he returned. Personally, I feel that he paid his dues and had the right to protest. So what, exactly, makes him "unfit"?

Smear Kerry and Gore
Smack Larry and Moe
Shake Harry and go to war
Harry Kerry Larry
Be Wary
Very Wary
For Kerry could be scary

Gore was scarred by Nader, but who's Haydn now?
