Came across this series on YouTube, well worth watching to get an idea of both sides of the racial divide.

There are presently 9 of these episodes about topics such as;

White Privilege and White Allergies,
How to teach your kids about race
Reverse Racism
White Parents raising Black Kids
Interracial relationships
Race and Religion
The National Anthem Protests
Police and Black Lives Matter

Each is 10-20 minutes long and well worth it.

White allergies?

The fact you asked tells me you didn't even bother trying to find out for yourself first because it's literally the title of the 2nd episode where Matthew McConaughey brings it up and explains it.

No need to be so confrontational. You’re the one who introduced the topic, why shouldn’t you be the one to ask about it? Not everyone is able to sit down and watch videos at the drop of a hat.

Unfortunately he lost my sympathy a short way into the first video with a story about how he as a black man cycling shouts at a white girl running in front of him to get out of his way. She fails to do so, and he rides into her. No recognition that a person on a bike coming from behind has the responsibility to avoid the collision. No recognition of how scared the girl must have been to have him land on her. He assumes she did not hear him because she had head phones in, but she might also have been deaf, a complete lack of awareness of invisible disability, and the need of the able bodied to accommodate the less abled. No recognition that as a man he somehow felt entitled to the right of way and women should give way to him.

That is not what allergies are. A better word would be "aversions". Sure, I see those. Allergies, nope.

What a twat.

I did actually. I put it into a search engine but the top two results were The Daily Wire and Fox News. I didn't think I'd get any enlightened explanation from those sites so I asked here. I guess it was too much to expect from this forum as well.

Sad.

Yeah, that's a tough one to get past. I would have thought that was a racist parody if it was standalone.

I guess he could claim that wearing ear buds when jogging is a foreign idea. Just never imagined it. But he claims this ignorance justified his doing violence to her, when it was his responsibility to pass her safely in the first place? That's pretty over the top obnoxious. And it's how he deliberately crafted the opening to this series. "100% my fault and responsibility, but **** her". Yeah, this sure will be an Uncomfortable Conversation.

The race or gender of the people in this situation is irrelevant; the cyclist is 100% in the wrong. What a tool.

He wasn't the one who asked about it, ThatGuy11200 was.

Seriously I am becoming annoyed at the unnecessary negative attitude here toward posters who post videos. We do this because we believe people might be interested in their content. This is the only forum I have found where this happens, most others welcome the opportunity to learn something.

If people have questions about it or want to know what its about, then they should watch it.
If they don't want to do that, then they should just shut up about it and leave. There is no need for snarky comments targeted at the OP for having the temerity to share his enjoyment with others.

Not everyone is able to sit down and watch videos at the drop of a hat.

And no-one was asking them to... PM didn't set a time limit on responses!

While I agree 100% with you that the guy behind was an arrogant tool, you should never, ever be out on the road on a bike wearing headphones.

At our Pony Club, we have banned the wearing of head phones and ear buds on our grounds, because a 98 lb teenage child who does not hear the shouted warnings to get out of the way of a 2000lb galloping horse is a very dangerous situation, and if there is a collision, it will be no contest.

Very sensible.

I did bother watching three of these. His style is not to my taste, but they are reasonably produced and presented. As someone who is non-white, I suppose I escape the 'white privelege' argument, but there is a 'unique' issue that does need addressing. In the UK the ethnicities other than Afro-Carribean out-perform the indigenous white population educationally, the best performing ethnic group is African who have the highest rate of university attainment. The big educational failure is Afro-Carribean males (females perform equivalently to white) and working class white males which are the worst performing groups. Clearly UK issues are somewhat different to the US, but it would be interesting to know if there is a similar difference in e.g. educational achievement between Black Africans from Africa and those African-Americans who are descendants of slaves. What is the Canadian experience, as there was never (to any meaningful extent) slavery in Canada nor segregation?

My experience is that YouTube videos are usually 90% fluff that can be summarized in a couple of short sentences.

A 10 minute video is lucky to have a minute of useful content..

In other words" Mostly clickbait " ...

Same applies to ALL video content

Titanic (all the movies and documentaries)
Summary: Big boat hits iceberg and sinks. Many people die.

Wonders of Life (Prof Brian Cox)
Summary: 4.5 billion years ago, the solar system is formed, then life starts.

Even in pure fiction...

The Martian
Summary: Fictional astronaut gets stranded on mars, and they rescue him.

So yeah, so all that story about how Watney was supposed to have got stranded, how he did the science and the math to enable him to survive, how he and the science guys figure out how to communicate and how to get him back, all clickbait, right?

A summary might give you the bare basics of what happened, but it does not truly represent the substance of the video. The joy of video is not just the information it imparts, its the way that information is presented.

So you are guaranteeing that all videos that are posted here on the ISF are worth watching without question and that one will learn something useful if watched?
You also seem to think that asking a question before one commits the time needed to watch a video is somehow insulting or wrong.
How self-important does one have to be to think that what you like should be liked by all without question?

I'll guarantee you that any video I post will be interesting to someone

That is not what I did, or said. Go back and read the posts again

In point of fact, PW did in give a brief opening summary in his OP.

Look, this is a really simple concept - so simple that even a child can grasp it. So someone posts a video...

If you want to watch the video, watch it

If you don't want to watch the video, don't, but also, don't make a song and dance about it. No-one is making you click on it, or forcing you to watch, but dropping snarky comments about potential click-bait without even looking, well that is just pure ******* ignorance.

... its that simple
