I have a foreboding of an America in my children's or grandchildren's time -- when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what's true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness...

Surreal...

At least 50% of the US is already there. And we are just a few days away from having the Government joining them.
 
Prescient indeed. I'd only take exception to the last thought -- a significant number of us are, in fact, noticing.

BTW, he passed in '96, an election year between Clinton and Dole. Just for perspective.
 
He also predicted exactly how much CO2 would be emitted, when testifying to Congress in 1985, and that it would increase global temperatures to the extent it has, showing his workings and all the chemicals, constituents, and part they would play, and that China and India would be uncontrollable in this matter.
He was a genius.


This told me anthropogenic climate change deniers are fools because they do not understand the power of pure science, falsifiable theories, and that they have not done their homework.
This says almost nothing about what the world should do, only that it is in the mix.

My wife reposts this as a meme every so often. And Demon Haunted World was one of my first big intros to skepticism, having already been primed by Randi watching Nova as a kid. One minor correction: its only 20% who voted for the conman, although certainly more than that do not have good critical thinking skills.
