Twoofers at Shermer book signing

I went to the Michael Shermer book signing in Portland tonight and during the Q&A a truther tried to confront Shermer with "the smoking gun" evidence that 9/11 was an inside job. Even as debunkers I think we could come up with much better "evidence" then what he posited.

In a nutshell:
Larry Silverstein (Oh Noes!) may have meant pull the firemen from building 7 when he said "pull it" but after that he said "and then we watched the building collapse". That is acknowledgment of guilt.

Wow, really? That is your smoking gun? If 911 was not an inside job what would Silverstein had said? "and then we watched tremendous fires burn for 5 more hours and the building collapsed due to structural failure, not by controlled demolitions"?

Notice how Michael offers to speak with the guy about 911 afterwards. I watched him promptly exit the room after the Q&A session. He must have better things to do then have a rational discussion.

Mr. smoking gun had a couple friends with him and one began to yell "naughty" things about Michael Shermer to a bunch of Shermer fans who just ignored him. After getting my book signed I approached the yeller and asked him why he and his friend would rather make loud statements then have a real discussion about 911 with Shermer. His response was that Shermer is an idiot and that HE had already tried to discuss how MLK was killed by a government conspiracy but Michael told him it was a lone nut.

I then talked about 911 with the two twoofers and here are a few nuggets from the conversation:
-Terrorists were not on manifests (I already emailed him the link to them)
-How can I trust everything the government tells me?
-The Tail did not leave a mark when the plain entered WTC1 and 2.
-Bin Laden videos that he takes credit for 911 attacks is fake.
Get ready for this one:
-No planes hit the towers. There were not witnesses. All video was faked. Have I ever been to NYC?(yes) Those buildings are tall and you cant see far distances.

I don't think I can debunk no-planers without a crayon and some construction paper. Or maybe I should invest in a magna-doodle and carry it in my briefcase.

Also, they handed me a placard that is titled "The Independent Thinker's 9/11 Fact Sheet". Has anyone seen this anywhere else? I am wondering if it is copied from another group or if its local. It has 10 "facts" listed. Just to give you an idea of these "facts" number 1 is "No steel-framed building before or since 9/11 has ever collapsed due to fire". Wash-rinse-repeat....

I am still a rookie debunker so I am not as jaded as some of you so I waste my time with twoofers. The guy asked me to speak at one of their meetings. Do you think we would all walk out of that meeting holding hands and laughing at their how silly they use to be?
 
Well done in getting the book signed.
As a debunker you are fighting, if not a losing, an unending battle. All the truthers do is throw stupid ill thought out ideas at you time and time again. You then respond with a logical and/or scientific answer. Then whack you are assaulted by more BS. It is like unending siege warfare against reason.
Once more into the breech...

Wow, one I haven't heard before.

And of course, the Twin Towers were surrounded by lots of tall buildings, so that you couldn't see them from more than a block or two away, and all the people that close were paid government stooges.

I've never run across a Truther other than on the Intertubes, sometimes I wish I could find just one for the entertainment value.
 
That guy is an obvious shill babbling to discredit the Truth.
Ive seen this tactic used many times.

Hahaha. I don't think the government needs any help to discredit the "Truth" Movement. You guys and your leaders do enough to yourselves.

And you're doing a fine job. I don't think anyone has done more to discredit the twoofers than you have.
