I guess they're doing a year-end names in the news dealie... and it's uber-short notice, but she's about to do a piece on quack extraordinaire Kevin Trudeau, including apparently the unsavory details he doesn't like people knowing about his past. I believe he'll be on after the spot on Brian (ex-Korn born again fundie) Welch.

They do re-air her show after midnight if you miss it.

I probably missed it as I am in central time and jj on the west coast said it is on now. I wonder how it is listed in the tv guide so if I am awake later, that I can tune it in.

According to my tv listings, it's on after the repeat of Larry King and the truncated Anderson Cooper 360 (I still can't believe they got rid of Aaron Brown for that crap)... 2a.m. here, which is eastern time. And the piece was what, like about 20 mins into the show? It's right after the Brian "Head" Welch spot... that one's pretty funny: I was an idiot, now I'm an idiot for Jesus!

It was pretty good although shortish... Paula didn't take it easy on Trudeau at all and asked some tough questions. Sure, it could have been tougher, but she was about as hard-assed as you're going to see in todays news environment. Personally, I would have cracked out the thumbscrews and a red-hot poker, but unfortunately I'm not telegenic :cry1 Anyway, he was his smarmy, sleazy self and did his best to avoid giving any direct answers. Seems it's OK for him to peddle his dangerous snake oil as long as he passes it off as opinion, absolving himself from any responsibility that mis-guided uninformed people may see him as an authority. PZ did a good job driving home the point that he is utterly unqualified to offer medical advice and that the scientific and medical community are nearly unanimous in their concerns and criticisms of his "natural cures".

Speaking of which... my local library (associated with a local college) has 3 copies of his book in their new releases section. I'd like to express my concerns about the book, yet understand that libraries are full of controversial and potentially dangerous information. But then again, how many libraries would keep multiple copies of the Anarchist Cookbook or Bombmaking for Dummies? Is there a way to do this without advocating censorship? Maybe suggest a disclamatory insert? Any advice, folks?

Ouch. Tough call. If they don't have an insert in Galen's work, or Mein Kampf, I doubt you can get them to put one in unTrueho's book. Libraries try to avoid censorship because well, libraries thrive in censorship about as well as honesty does in D.C.
