The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is blocking certain websites from the federal agency's computers, including halting access by staffers to any Internet pages that contain a "controversial opinion," according to an internal email obtained by CBS News.
The email was sent to all TSA employees from the Office of Information Technology on Friday afternoon.
It states that as of July 1, TSA employees will no longer be allowed to access five categories of websites that have been deemed "inappropriate for government access."
The categories include:
? Chat/Messaging
? Controversial opinion
? Criminal activity
? Extreme violence (including cartoon violence) and gruesome content
? Gaming

The email does not specify how the TSA will determine if a website expresses a "controversial opinion."

During work hours on work computers?

Meh.

Wake me when the TSA blocks websites on my home computer.

Weird. Web sites belonging to those same categories have been blocked at most places I've worked.

It's almost like a Federal agency is acting like...Well, any other employer.

Nice fear-mongering thread title, though.

When the free market does it, it is a beautiful example of efficiency.

When the government does it...Big...Brother. Dun dun DUN!

Correction: when the government does it during a time of a Democratic POTUS administration, then it's Big Brother and an outrage or over-reach of government.

Aside from 'Controversial opinion', those sound remarkably like five of the default categories from Websense.

I heard that Cleon might be a Socialist. I mean, honestly, take a look at his name: it begins with a 'C' just like Communism does!

That's a controversial opinion.......delete.

I'm sorry, did I somehow stumble into your employment and start using your computer during my work hours? Clumsy me.

How much back pay do you suppose you owe me? Also, you should know I'm taking two days vacation this week to go to a convention in Las Vegas. Give my work to BeAChooser if you don't mind.
