Truthers find a supportive FDNY guy . . .Well, sort of

Well, the truthers are in a reverie about having found what they think is a legitimate NY firefighter named Rudy Dent who was at Ground Zero on 9/11 and is on their side.

But instead of providing an eyewitness account of explosives going off or fire commanders pretending the building was unstable, he spouts the same tired old claims about free fall and footprints that anyone can spout. The only thing he specifically claims to have witnessed is WTC 7 falling in its footprint, which didn't even happen. He's just repeating what he read or what someone told him.

But it gets better. It appears Rudy is a frothing, Jew-hating, Hitler-admiring nutjob, if this site is genuine:

I can't tell if the site is the real deal or not. But I also found that Rudy "liked" a David Duke video and subscribed to a Holocaust denial forum. Also, on a YouTube video called "All Wars Are Bankers Wars," he left the comment, "The web is full of Rothschild Zionist trolls..."

A credible source? I think not.

He says that he missed the collapses of the Twin Towers, but arrived before the collapse of WTC 7. He says he was at the "staging area" (presumably the area the emergency personnel pulled back to, outside the safety zone that FDNY established for fear of collapse).

He also claims that Mayor Giuliani and the Fire Commissioner were inside WTC 7 until shortly before it collapsed. I suppose it would be churlish to ask him how he knows that, and how he could have seen them emerge from where he was standing. :eusa_think:

Sure they vet them. The vetting consists of one question: "Are they saying something we want to hear?" No other questions needed.
 
Dent claims to be a fire marshal, or to have received training as a marshal -- I get the picture he took the test -- any way to vet this?
 
Find out what year he claims he took it and you can find the list of candidates.

Also, Dent was mentioned in a NYT piece from December 2001 about PTSD among first responders.

At least we know he was an actual firefighter on 9/11. The piece doesn't mention his rank, though.

You also failed to mention he was a Vietnam Vet. The Truthers are going to wave that around as well.
 
He claims that Giuliani was missing for awhile, then came out of WTC-7, and shortly after that the building came down. Of course, this is ridiculous; Giuliani was missing briefly after the collapse of the South Tower (he was trapped in a nearby building), but for the rest of the day it is hard to imagine how he could have been more visible.
 
He was missing just long enough to light the fuse of course. He had to fill his Zippo up first.

It was Michael Hess and Barry Jennings who were inside WTC 7 prior to it's collapse. From what I remember that day there was no mention of Giuliani's being in there prior to collapse.

As far as I'm concerned Rudy Dent has not a leg to stand on. Think about it, he's an anti-Semite and Holocaust denier. For an African American notorious for that it doesn't speak volumes. How much credibility would you give him? I give zero.
