I am usually entertained by Bill Maher's show, even though I am concerned by his bias and lack of balance, especially in his choice of guests (usually, at least one wacko, ultra-left brain-dead Hollywood type).
Last Friday's show only had two guests on the panel: Dr. Cornell West, and an ignorant rapper by the name of Mos Def. Around 6:40 into this video, Maher tries to bring up the issue of the terrorists that were recently arrested in Germany. This sets off Mos Def, who immediately starts spouting his wacky conspiracy theory nonsense. Around 8:00 into this, he really gets going. The topper is when he blurts out, "I don't even believe we ever went to the moon".
He continues in part 4. At this point, I had to leave the room.
What's most bothersome about this is not the rantings of an uneducated rapper who looks and sounds like he was just plucked off the streets of Compton. What is disturbing is that Dr. West, supposedly an educated man, basically defends him. Maher looks completely taken aback by all of this, and acts like he regrets having booked these two guests to appear on his show.
You know you are in trouble when Bill Maher represents the conservative position on this show.
