While reading through the latest truther thread, something about the dynamics of the discussion seemed very familiar to me.
The truthers relentlessly pound their point home, seemingly oblivious to any contradictory evidence or appeals to their sense of logic. When they are cornered, they begin to spew venom in all directions. When reality is at odds with their beliefs, then reality is given the old heave-ho.
It reminds me of a lot of managers I've worked with. People who get their way and move up in the company, not because of any personal ability, but because they wear people out with their obnoxious approach to problem-solving.
They don't need to be successful. They don't need to be right. They simply repeat their claim, over and over, that what they are doing is proper and necessary. After a while, the weary people around them either start to believe it, or they simply avoid the issue.
Is the truth movement actually a massive management-training program sponsored by Big Business?
And, more importantly...are we all doomed?
