After she shared a story about Donald Trump's ex-wife, Marla Maples, on Facebook reporter Olivia Nuzzi received threatening messages from Mike Krawitz including;
  • I. Hope. Somebody. Rapes. You. Today. :)
  • Hope. You. Get. Raped. By. A. Syrian. Refugee. :)

In fact the messages are nothing new, according to Nuzzi, who says Krawitz has been harassing her for more than a year. Krawitz (a Republican and supporter of The Trumpet) is running (for the fourth time) for a seat on the West Deptford Township Committee. (That's a little place in New Jersey BTW).
Krawitz claimed his Facebook account was hacked, though he also says he "might have" written an earlier offensive message to Nuzzi in December.

Krawitz also says that The Daily Beast "is a Democratic organization, I don't even follow that stuff. I don't go on those websites".
The West Deptford GOP claims it "does not condone any repulsive, threatening, or demeaning rhetoric in any social media form or otherwise" but has taken no action against Krawitz. It also said it was contacting Twitter for information on the (alleged) account hack; this is somewhat surprising (or maybe not) given that the messages were sent via Facebook.

Nuzzi dismissed the claims of an account hack; "I don't buy the idea that someone hacked a low-level local political candidate a year ago and spent all that time harassing a journalist on there for sport". She believes he's just an idiot; "not Internet-savvy enough to know that people can see what he says — or he doesn't care".

More.

Apparently he's dropped out of the race, without specifying a reason. Is it too much to hope that we'll see him named Teh Donald's Journalism Outreach Coordinator?

What's the Internet coming to? Back in my day you could advocate a targeted rape without consequences. We knew enough to keep IRL separate. Now it's all about owning your words.

All I can say is that, without a Republican candidate in the upcoming election, the ramifications will be substantial for the West Deptford township committee. Will this swing the committee toward putting up a new stop sign and hiring a part-time janitor for the library? Only time will tell.

It seems to be a fairly solid Democrat area anyway.

I hope you are not implying that Trump isn't exactly as bad as this thread title implies.
While I am willing to believe that Trump is capable of the absolute lowest of acts, and the endorsement of same, I value accuracy over ideology.

Seriously. I read the title as "Donald Trump is supporting a Republican candidate in his advocacy of the rape of a journalist" rather than "A Republican candidate who supports Donald Trump also advocates the rape of a journalist". Almost equally disgusting, but two different things.

I demand the thread title be changed to
Trump supporting candidate eats shots and leaves
Immediately.
