This how the BBC reports on a report on animal testing. Not a single extract from the report is published without criticism from campaigners before and after. Lots of quotes from various campaigners without rebuttal from those researchers who think it's quite a shame when a human being dies of cancer or ......

eta - keep getting a server too busy error when I try to comment on it

At least there's a response box you can fill in at the end - although 'Theo from London' could have said more... perhaps he was edited. I filled in and sent in my comments.

I sent comments as well (I hope using the name Yahweh doesnt put off the publishers).

I've posted a comment as well - every little bit helps.

I just cannot understand why people don't understand the numbers. One single rodent experiment every 20 years per head of population is a minute price to pay for scientific research that might save the life of me or my family.

As for large mammal experiments, these are carried out at a rate of about one every 1000 years per head of population.

I think I'm going to send a few comments regarding the bacteria. Nobody thinks the poor bacteria. Antibiotic susceptibility testing should stop. Stop the massacre NOW.

Off to build a page about the bacterial rights.

I know... that's simply pathetic. People don't realize that we wouldn't even exist without bacteria. They care more about primates when they'd probably not even notice if all apes were to die. We need to educate people about what's happening. This is worse than abortion and nobody ever talks about it. And you even get strange looks if you dare to mention the subject in public. Ignorance is the enemy.

Well I have to admit, I've been working in research labs doing research with bacteria. I can telll you it's even worse than you imagine, really...
There are even some recombinant strains of bacteria developed for research that couldn't survive outside labs...
I am so ashame now
:(

Now, for the fact that the comments don't change. What is written is
The following comments reflect the balance of opinion we have received so far:
Which doesn't mean it has to be an actual accurate report of said comments
Or maybe I'm pessimistic here
