Top Scientologist charged with perverting course of justice

One of the Church of Scientology's most senior figures, Jan Eastgate, has been arrested and charged in Sydney.

She has been charged with perverting the course of justice in relation to allegations she coached an 11-year-old girl to lie to police and community services about the sexual abuse she suffered from her stepfather who was a member of the Church of Scientology.​

This is what your leaders do, at this point scientology has , to anyone who has not started to drink the kool-aid, proven itself to be nothing more than power hungry, and sinister.

Considering that the accuser is an 11-year old girl, I am hoping that not even the Co$ would sink that low.

Well, she was 11 when the incident allegedly happened. I don't know how old she is now, but the fact that they revealed her name would seem to indicate she is an adult.

ETA: The incident happened in 1985, according to this article.

Oh, if she's an adult now, then I have no doubt that the Co$ will try to assisinate her character. Its still despicable, but pretty much par for the course for Co$

A friend of mine, who has a serious psychiatric illness, was a victim of psychiatric malpractice. It caused severe trauma. She is a scientist and skeptic. While there was nothing she could do, she continued with mental health care professionals to process the damage it had caused. It took close to a decade to heal, and some scars still remain. She continues to see a therapist for her illness.

One day, she was searching the Interwebz, and came across a web site that seemed very sympathetic to fellow victims, and even had a means of reporting abuse. She was pleased that a group was concerned over the trauma of therapy gone bad.

It didn't take too long before she discovered that the web site, CCHR, was part of the Co$. She was well aware of their anti-psychiatry position, and was... more than a little annoyed.

She always disliked them... but now loathes them.
 
There was a bill in Parliament last year to strip religious status off the CoS in Australia. It failed. Let's hope it's put to a vote again.
