It appears that DeLay has asked that his name be removed from the ballot, and is asking the party to get behind a write in candidate. This has always been his option. The recent legal rulings in the state of Texas prevented his name being replaced on the ballot. It is unlikely that the write in candidate will win (no name recognition, way behind in raising funds…). What this allows him to do is to transfer his substantial campaign funds to his legal defense funds.

DeLay has a long history of using his position to line his own pockets (putting his wife and daughter on the payroll). I wonder what his supporters think of all this?
