So, seems like our round mound of loud sound has gotten himself in some trouble.

For the uninitiated, The George Washington Bridge was inexplicably closed down for four days after the mayor of Fort Lee declined to endorse Christie.Traffic was a mess. Some emails have now emerged that shows the Christie people knew it was a mess and did it on purpose.

On Sept. 9 and Sept. 10, Wildstein was apparently receiving ongoing updates about the "traffic disaster" in Fort Lee. On Sept. 10, Wildstein said to someone via text message that Fort Lee's mayor had reached out to Bill Baroni, another Christie appointee, expressing worries about "getting kids to school."

"Help please. It's maddening," Sokolich wrote in a message to Baroni.

That message appears to have been passed on to Wildstein who wrote, "Is it wrong that I am smiling?"

It is unclear who Wildstein was corresponding with, however the recipient of his message said, "No."

"I feel badly about the kids," wrote Wildstein. "I guess."

Wildstein has resigned, but this is bad bad stuff. Does this hurt Christie bad enough to stop him from running in 2016? If not, from winning?

The question would be when did Christie know about it.
From the start- very bad
After but kept quiet - very bad
Around the same time I heard it on Curtis and Kuby - maybe not bad. He will be like our current president who seems to find things out on the news.

I will be disappointed if it can be shown he knew. I was hoping he was above that.

To be clear, the GWB was open, just certain lanes to get to the bridge from Fort Lee were closed, causing massive traffic problems in Fort Lee and, IIRC, on the bridge itself.

The story is he was mad with the mayor of Fort Lee for not supporting him so it was either impossible or very hard to get on the bridge from fort lee. Traffic survey or something

At this point I'm not convinced any scandal will affect a GOP candidate at the primaries - the only thing that matters is how well they pander to the highly-motivated, hateful whack-jobs who show up and vote.

That's why I don't think this will hurt Christie, because the hard-core conservatives who are the lifeblood of Republican primaries will probably never be able to get past the perceived buddy-buddy relationship Christie had with Obama during Hurricane Sandy. To them, this is nothing. Acknowledging that he had to work with "the enemy" during a time of crisis is EVERYTHING!

Yes, I know. I'm just clarifying that it wasn't the bridge itself that was closed, but certain lanes in Fort Lee.

Hah, I was wondering why I was getting national news email alerts about some lane closing.

Why this is an outrage! Normally the GWB is a bastion of fast moving vehicles and easy traffic flow....

.. oh who am I kidding.

The problem with a story like this is how it shapes the narrative. The narrative Christie wants to project is that he's above petty partisan politics. Regardless of this scandal, Christie's problem is that he might match up well in the general election, but he's probably not going to make it through the primary.

Oh, there's more. Sorry I'm on mobile.

Nothing will come of this story. Now if the governor was a (D) the amount of outrage would be off the scale.

Good reason for these sorts of positions to be appointed apolitically rather then politically.

Finally speaking out, this mayor of Fort Lee really comes across as a very good politician doing his job. Sokolich is the guy that Christie's minions were apparently trying to spank. Impressive mayor.

I just now watched him being interviewed by Chris Hayes on MSNBC. Above link is to CNN interview. Very eloquent, and a guy who could be congress material, in my biased democratic opinion.
