Well, it appears that atheists are edging up on the Islamic community within the US in terms of how "warm" Americans feel towards various religious groups (including atheists). Pew surveys released their data, see http://www.npr.org/blogs/codeswitch...ly-like-jews-muslims-and-atheists-not-so-much.

The best bit of information, in my opinion, is the last table on the page where age is used as a factor. The "temperature" at which atheists are held is:

Age - Temperature
All - 41
18/29 - 49
30/49 - 44
50/64 - 35
65 and up - 34

I appears we'll gain almost ten degrees by merely waiting 30 years.
