I was out for dinner tonight, and did the spoon trick at the table, and got nothing but blank stares and 'what's that for?' questions. I said 'Just trying to be Uri Geller over here.' General consensus was 'Who?'. I actually had to explain it.

I think we're winning that battle, at least from moment to moment. Yay!

I hadn't heard of him for a while )apart from the Kris Angel thing, the show that wasn't on our tv luckily.(UK) Now he is trying to get his profile up by dining out on Michael Jackson. My younger son did ask who he was, I can smile at that.

In the States, I'm pretty sure our side is mostly to blame for keeping his name alive. He's completely irrelevant except we keep bringing him up.

Though, much like David Hasselhoff, he seems to have a following in Germany.

I think Uri Geller should be remembered. But only for being a charlatan. It might help to keep people from falling for future charlatans.

I hope you left a big enough tip to cover the damaged flatware!

My tip paid quite grandly for the cheap, already bent sheetmetal spoon. It's always cheap flatware because the expensive stuff won't bend. I always though if I had the opportunity to take Geller out for dinner, I'd make it someplace expensive enough that the tableware was too thick to bend.
