From Las Vegas Businessman Steve Wynn:

"I supported a Democratic Congresswoman named Shelley Berkley. I called her during Obamacare. I said, 'Shelly, what are you doing? How do you do this? This is killing unions and all of us supplying health care to our employees,'" Wynn recalled. "She said to me, quote, this is not hearsay — Shelly said to me — and she is running for the Senate — ‘Steve, I know it's terrible. My husband's a doctor, and he hates it, too. If I don't vote for it, she will punish me,' she being Nancy Pelosi."

Meh. Sounds like someone is trying to distract us for the grief we suffer because that little troll Grover has the nads of all the GOP congress critters in his pocket.

So, some guy said some stupid things ("during Obamacare", "killing unions", etc), Fox News decided to air those stupid things, and you decided to post those stupid things here.

What's the take-away here? You like stupid things?

I never understood how free healthcare could get American's knickers in such a knot. Why on earth would anybody NOT want free healthcare?

(Well, I can imagine some wealthy people not wanting to share their privileges with the masses, but I dare anybody to say that out loud.)

And just before the pedants jump all over MRC_Hans's post - free here means "free at the point of delivery", no one is claiming that UHCs don't cost anything.

The funny thing is that two years later, unions and employee health care are not dead. In fact, things are improving.
Over the year ending May 2011, Medicare claim costs rose at an annual rate of 2.64%, as measured by the S&P Healthcare Economic Medicare Index. That number is down 4.36 percentage points since May 2010, and down 5.53 percentage points since its November 2009 high. This represents the lowest annual growth rate in the six years S&P has been tracking the health care information.

So what gives? Could this guy be using hyperbole and exaggeration? I don't see how that's possible!

Wicked spoilers.
As anyone who knows the plot of Wicked can tell you, the Wicked Witch of the West was actually good. She was slandered and demonized by the powerful and rich Ozzian ruling class who were afraid that she would cause an uprising among the animals that they liked to abuse, and of course, the Munchkins little people. It is easy to demonize her to lots of people because she is a different color than them and she has questionable parentage. But the real reason they hate her is because she is more powerful than they are, so she must be destroyed.

But somehow she finds a way to continue Defying Gravity.

Oh, I could easily see Nancy dressed in black leather, all serious with a whip in hand (Or a giant gavel maybe), standing over some poor cowering underling... :eye-poppi
Not that I'd want to, mind you, but I could see it. :covereyes
Sounds a bit like an extra cheesy horror movie though, you know, like one you'd see on MST3K.

Nancy the Dominatrix.......mmmmmm nope doesnt do it for me

Many opponents to Universal Healthcare in the US are pretty open about saying that they don't want to pay for others' healthcare.

And yet, somehow, they can't accept the fact that they already do at an elevated expense than they might otherwise need to.

RIGHT! Thats the key that opponents don't get! We have universal coverage right now, its called an emergency room. It is the least effective and most expensive form of UHC.

Lets stop being foolish and wasteful!

Just out of curiosity, Robert, why do you suppose most representative democracies have national healthcare plans, are happy with them and don't seem to be hemorrhaging doctors to the U.S.?
