Yes, it's yet another political thread, but I'm not aware that there is a thread specifically for acts of political violence in the 2024 U.S. election cycle, so I'm starting it with this. I'm sure there will be many more to come.

Man charged with allegedly assaulting mail carrier delivering 'Harris for President' mailer

A Michigan man was charged Friday with allegedly assaulting a mail carrier over a "Kamala Harris for President" mailer that the mail carrier delivered to his mailbox.

Russell Frank Valleau, 61, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, was charged by Oakland County, Michigan Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald with assaulting a mail carrier.

"The defendant was allegedly upset that he had received mail regarding presidential candidate Kamala Harris and allegedly said that he did not want that 'black b****' in his mailbox," according to press release from the Oakland County, Michigan prosecutor's office said. "He then called the mail carrier a 'black b****' and threatened the carrier. The mail carrier used pepper spray to stop the defendant."

Valleau was found nearby and taken into custody, according to the press release. He was charged with one count of ethnic intimidation, a felony, and one count of assault and battery, which is a misdemeanor, and was being held at the Oakland County Jail, the release said.

Harris campaign office in Arizona damaged by apparent gunfire, police say

An office in Arizona used by Kamala Harris' campaign was shot at early Monday morning in the second apparent gun attack in a week, according to investigators.

Police in Tempe, Arizona, responded to the office, which the local Democratic Party also uses, after they received calls from staffers about the damage. At least five bullet holes were found in the windows and the door.

"No one was inside the office during the overnight hours, but this raises concerns about the safety of those who work in that building, as well as those nearby," Tempe Police spokesperson Sgt. Ryan Cook told ABC News.

A Trump win will lead to an increased readiness of loosely organized groups like Black Bloc to defend people and places with force that will come under attack (again) when Trump supporters feel embolden to hurt minorities and LBGTQ+ gatherings and the like.

And hopefully a renewed effort at hold a General Strike.
 
A Harris win is less likely to provoke an organized violent response - simply because after Jan 6th everyone assumes that the Feds are spying on everyone and everyone calling for violence is just an agent provocateur.

Their violence will be much more localized and/or spontaneous.
 
Also they know a coup attempt won't spark a spontaneous nation-wide revolution with the backing of the army, or that they can't magically overturn elections by storming the Capitol.

Yeah, they got a pretty loud wake-up call about how many people want to go do a revolution vs how many want to mill around checking out the revolution and how many pretty exclusively just want to bitch about things

I'm agin political violence, but I'm starting to feel a bit tempted by political vandalism -- but tasteful, principalled, dignified vandalism.

When I see a trumpianoid yard sign, or a row of them, say over in Grosse Pointe, I consider augmenting them rather than anything as vulgar as defacing them. I'd never stoop to, say, spraying on an orange swastika.

I'm thinking of peel and stick vinyl labels, 100 mm square and nicely printed in red, white, and black with an authentic, period-correct Hakenkreuz as worn in those brave and piping days when the Aryans marched from the Atlantic to the Volga! Place it in the upper Right corner of those yard signs! Press it down well and make it visible!

In short, I want to strengthen the dear GrossePointeds' signs, not smirch them.

I wonder how long it would take them to notice?

I wonder how many would leave them there?

I wonder what percentage of Grosse Point residences have surveillance cameras and how long it would take the Grosse Point police to identify and arrest you. Oh, I know, wear a keffiyeh.

Well, around GP the cams are usually in the back yard, watching for burglars and car thieves. And a neat, clean WhightMan stepping on their lawns wouldn't trigger the alarms anyway; the software's more (ahem!) discriminating than that!

BTW, it really is spelled Pointe, w/ a French e at the end; Fat Point in English. (Smekt Punkt in Flemish? Dunno. Many of the area's early place-namers were Belgian, so could be.)

But they don't call it Gross for nothin'.

Political Violence 2024

The political violence started long before this. Trump and MAGA are dialing it up. They've shot up a Democratic Party field office enough times that the Democrats shut it down. This shows how desperate, hateful and violent MAGA is. I can only hope that this behavior shows the general public what MAGA is and that the public retaliates by voting MAGA out.
