Hard materialism may indeed be flawed but that’s no gap for you to drive your lorry load of magical thinking into. That is the agenda here.

Emergence is a fascinating philosophical topic but form says we are not in for such an interesting discussion here.

Buckle up Folks, we will be blessed with numerous threads like this and the last one.

Borrowing this from another poster: I'm waiting for "The study of running persons does not explain the 'runny' part"

This is what happens when you feel resentment towards marginalisation of your wishful thinking by science and then discover philosophy crib note videos on YouTube.

Off you go then. In your own words or a link with summary. How does an understanding of atomic theory explain the shifting patterns of dunes in the Sahara.

By observing their behaviour from the bottom up until you meet the atoms of the air.

No. You're abusing the word "feel" by using it to refer to something other than any of its accepted meanings. The result is that you're talking gibberish.

Dave

How do you define it and in what sense am I talking gibberish?

By observing their behaviour from the bottom up until you meet the atoms of the air.

Thats just reductionist optimism that you would selectively apply to this example but not qualia. Selectively because this is a cherry picking exercise and not honest inquiry. I asked for an explanation of the like you asked for here. You wont accept such dodging but you will offer it.
