The Russian X-Ray girl, again

From the article
Professor Machi said: "We did a whole range of tests, and the strangest thing was that we found she could also use her abilities on photographs, even on tiny passport photos.

"She was able to look at them and apparently see what the problem was. Her ability is not x-ray vision, but she definitely has some king of talent that we can't explain yet."
Wow, that certainly moves the goal posts! Is there any account of the actual tests the Japanese academics did, as opposed to just a newspaper report?

Rolfe.

I just had quick google to try and find some specifics on the tests with not much luck. The best I found was this site which says

Each of the tested patients brought the latest medical conclusion about his/her condition. The results were fixed by professor Machi, his assistant and a special expert group. The experiment was videotaped. During the experiment, the doctors did not say a word. When it became clear that the girl had diagnosed accurately all the seven patients, the doctors could not but applaud the girl.

Then Demkina was taken to a veterinary hospital. An old Rottweiler was standing on the table motionless. Five minutes later, the girl pointed at his right hind leg with an implanted artificial limb. The scholars were all in amazement. They asked the girl if she could diagnose an illness using a photo. They were then shocked to find out that she did not even care whether the patient was en face, in full height or half height. Using a tiny passport photo, Demkina discovered that the man had liver cancer.

Interestingly, Prof. Machi is quoted on Uri Gellar's website:

"Thetelepathy experiment was conducted under the following conditions; There were 6 people in the laboratory; 2 engineers from thefactory that makes thermography (they are both graduates ofTokyo Denki University), 2 student assistants, myself and Mr. Geller. Under no circumstances could Mr. Geller have seenmy drawing before the experiment was all over Only after Mr.Geller drew the image that he received was my drawing revealed".
Professor Yoshio Machi (Dept.of Electronics, Tokyo Denki University - Japan)

Sigh.
Nobody can fool those scientists, can they? I mean, they have (hushed voice) PhDs (end hushed voice). Use a trickster to catch a trickster.

I'd like to see the report if these people attended a magician/mentalist show. Imagine the headlines!

The Reattachment of a Female Patient Suffering from a Total Severing About the Abdominal Area

Transmutation of Physical Characteristics of an Asian Tiger to a Human Female

Use of Superconducting Technology to Create Physical Force Equal and Opposite to Earth's Gravity in Order to Levitate a Human

They were then shocked to find out that she did not even care whether the patient was en face, in full height or half height. Using a tiny passport photo, Demkina discovered that the man had liver cancer.
Oh well, as long as they didn't expect her to spot a metal plate in the skull of a man standing right in front of her...
