The reason why the torment of the grave is hidden from man
Islam Q & A

Is the torment of the grave one of the matters of the unseen or of the seen world? What is the reason why it is made one of the matters of the unseen?

Long answer, but here are some excepts:

...

Allaah is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy, for if we were to see the torment of the grave this would make our lives a misery, because if a person were to know that his father or brother or son or spouse or relative is being punished in the grave and he is not able to save him, then he would be distressed and unable to relax. So this is a blessing from Allaah.

...

If it were visible, belief in it would serve no purpose, because it would be visible and no one could deny it.

...

Islam is not the only widespread religion that believes in "the torment of the grave".

Would a Christian pastor give such a straightforward answer to the same question (modulo the differences in terminology)?

" Jesus doesn't let you know your relatives are roasting in Hell because that would upset you, and certainty would destroy your faith".

But, if someone knows that is why he is doing it, then it means that i now know it is happening, which means it should destroy my faith, which means i should not think it is happening, which means then it would be okay to have faith, but if i get my faith back, then i have to deal with that issue of my relatives burning in hell , which causes me to lose faith..... etc etc etc. In an infinite loop.

So is your point the Muslims have found an infinite source of energy through this weird logic? If so how is the power of illogic harvested, that interests the heck out of me.

Whether your explanation comes from islam or christianity, it is idiotic. ◊◊◊◊◊◊* crazy is ◊◊◊◊◊◊* crazy regardless of religion.

If it comes down to to

"If you knew the truth you wouldn't believe in us/me/it".

Then it's........................well.............pointless really. So, nothing new there then.

" Jesus doesn't let you know your relatives are roasting in Hell because that would upset you, and certainty would destroy your faith".

"Hey God, I've been wandering around this place for a millennial or so, and no matter where I go I can't find my mom. Everyone says 'She just stepped out,' or 'She was here a minute ago,' or 'It's her bridge night, come back tomorrow.' What's going on?"

Option 1: God lies and says she's not in hell
"She's visiting some friends. Come back tomorrow."

Option 2: God lies and makes a fake mom to fool me.
"She's right here, behind door number 2! And she's sitting in a brand new car!""

God sure is lying a lot to make sure I kiss his ass. Why am I worshiping this being again?

After reading that, I'd really like to see his reasoning for also hiding the joy of heaven from us.

So... the Islamic stance on god is that he lies when it's convenient and treats mankind like small children. The only difference between that and Christianity is that Christians won't admit this.

"The torment of the grave" is only a threat to total ignoramuses - people of low intellect who believe in ghosts and witches and ghoulies...

Don't worry , as Abdul Alhazred taught us, we will not ever know the torment of the grave : we will swallowed by the great old one, when the star are aligned. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn.

But beside that, we don't know the torment of the grave, because they don't exists, gods don't exists, paradise, limbo, hades, valhalla don't exists.

We as human can't ever come to grasp what death is as we can only feel once and never after directly, and indirectly we only see things ending without being able to grasp it. Therefore we made up afterlife myths. And as we needed the villain punished the good rewarded, something which don't (did not ?) happen often we made up the great judege which put us in different place whether we were good or bad.

We don#t need more explanation. We just fear death. That's it.

I'd go with "it's the same reason that unicorns and fairies are hidden from man."

More exerts:
3 – It might become difficult to bury the dead, as it was narrated that the Prophet ....

This indicates that burial might become too difficult and people would not do it, even though if a person deserves to be punished he will be punished even if he is lying on the surface of the earth.

4 – If it were visible, belief in it would serve no purpose, because it would be visible and no one could deny it.

So if the people saw those who had been buried and heard their screams, they would believe and none of them would disbelieve

Looks like an easy way to test islam. Just find a known sinner who deserves to be punished. Leave them lying on the surface of the earth when they're dead and watch the punishment begin. If nothing happens then one of the above claims must be a lie.

"Look, worms are invading his body and it's decomposing. Allah has spoken--he was evil! Praise Allah!" ;)

Sorry, I knew that. I was having a bit of fun with religion's tendency to take absurd liberties with their interpretations, as in the OP.
