Tonight, a big election in Kansas for half their state-level school board members.

Kansas Election Results

N. Y. Times Article

It's tough to see who are the ID crowd and who are not, not being from that area. Hell, even if I were I doubt I'd know.

The "good guys", I'm guessing from the article:

Harry E. McDonald
Sally Cauble
Janet Waugh

The other two races had neither candidate mentioned.

I recommend Thoughts from Kansas for info on Kansas politics.

He says:
"Board of Ed.: Endorsements go to Janet Waugh, Harry McDonald, Sally Cauble, Donna Viola, and Jana Shaver (in order of district number)."

I'm in the 5th district, home to Connie "evolution is a fairytale" Morris. She's got 55% of the vote so far, but the "cities" (we have 3 cities of over 20,000) haven't reported yet.

If Sally Cauble doesn't get the candidacy, Kansas will be so deserving of your pity.

Science Wins In Kansas

The primary election results are nearly all in, and it appears that the new State School Board will shift to a 6-4 pro-science majority. Unlikely upsets in the general election could increase that majority. As it stands, it looks like we're getting our real science standards back. :)

The voice of reason won out! It's too miraculous to believe-there must have been a higher power at work. There's no other explanation.;)

But we've been through this before. It happened last time KS was in the news. The loonies were swept out a couple years ago, but got back in at the next election when the spotlight was no longer on.
Mr. Incredible: "No matter how many times you save the world, it always manages to get back in jeopardy again. Sometimes I just want it to stay saved, you know?"

Roy Moore and Ralph Reed lose primaries in the South, and now this. It's almost enough to make me think there might be hope for this country yet.
