The Hammer goes to the Slammer

Well, he's been found guilty. Whether or not he'll actually be sentenced to jail remains to be seen.

Me? Cynical? Never.

I know. But seriously, how could I resist the thread title? I'm not some logical vulcan robot. Dammit, I'm just a man!

According to what I've read, the minimum sentence he would get is about 7 years. There are two counts he was convicted of, and the sum total maximum sentence he could get is 120 years.

Sentencing takes place on Dec. 20th - Merry Christmas, Tom :D

5-99 years in prison.

nice. :)

good ol' GOP.

I think you made a mistake in your post. I think you meant to say something about politicians in general, or maybe just DeLay specifically, and not make some quip that implies that only the GOP has had folks in trouble lately.

Right?

I'm thinking he'll appeal it until it gets to the USA Supreme Court. That Republican-controlled court will rules that corporations are people (again) and therefore, Delay is innocent.

I recall when he was indicted that they had some attorneys doing legal analysis of Mr. DeLay and his partners on one of the NPR shows....
If they were anywhere near correct, then the charges he was convicted on are just the tiniest tip of the iceberg.....

I wonder if there are others involved in this scandal in the Texas political scene? Could DeLay cut a deal to reduce his sentence by rolling on others?
