Now imagine billions, tens of billions, hundreds of billlions of those motors working together, each one like a muscle cell, together like a muscle. Superman, move over. Now the problem is storing the power to run them, but there's some ideas on that, thanks to Dr. Robert Forward.
'Course I'm not being hard on Asimov, he didn't know something other than hydraulics and pneumatics would be possible.
