The Evils of Globalization

Save your agit-crap for those who care.

Some people actually see the value in the various cultures around the planet,

The problem comes when they try to express that value in an objective currency.

Producers in South Korea, which even has a kimchi museum to honour the dish, are combating cheap imports by stressing the quality and hygiene of the local-made combination of cabbage, salt, garlic, peppers, sugar and fish paste.

That's funny. I suppose, by comparison, the imported kimchi might be less hygienic than the domestic, but 'hygiene' is not exactly Korea's middle name (IMO). Perhaps they'd have faired better by doing it UK-style and calling it 'Frankenfood' (or an appropriate asian-based derivative thereof.)

I have no idea what you are talking about. My post was merely to reflect that I find posts that have no relevant data in the thread-starting post to be annoying and thoughtless.

I don't click every link that gets posted here (especially pop-up infested Yahoo links). So I expect the initial post to actually tell me something about what is being discussed so I can know whether or not to follow it.

Is it about kimchi? I love kimchi.

What is agit-crap anyway?

Cheap Chinese Kimichi...The mind boggles.

My first experience with this delicacy was at the bar we all used to hang out at. Eclectic joint, with an open mike, belly dancers, ethnic music, weekend chili, and other nonsense. The proprietor, a local celebrity of sorts, kept a refrigerator cabinet at the bar with all sorts of odd goodies, including "squid in it's own ink", smoked oysters, chocolate covered ants, and canned Kimichi.

Guys would get drunk and dare each other to try this stuff. The canned kimichi was particularly pungent when opened....

We finally got a proper Korean restauraunt in the neigborhood, and we found we actually liked the "real" stuff; went great with Korean BBQ.

If we listened to you, we'd still be hunting whales in to extinction, rather than develop the means to extract fossil fuels from far beneath the Northern Atlantic Oceans. No- we would still be swinging through trees, in fact, crouched and fearing the sabre-tooth beast that stalks below.

Progress is God's Will, it is the only possible path, to go forth and conquor savage plains and plow deeply through Mother Nature's fertile, forested, moist valley as she loudly calls our names to come unto her bidding.

Stick that up you @ss, anti-globalists. You make me sick.

Which of you is with me, and who is against?

LOL. I finally get you. Now I'm going to have to go back and read all of your posts I ignored because I never understood the context of your writings. Now I get it. Hilarious.

I don't necessarily disagree but could you encapsulate the value of the Inuit culture or the Yuruba culture or the Aboriginal culture?

The question is does one value something because it is PC to say so or for any real and defendable reason?

A way of putting it into concrete terms is to imagine the changes that would occur if all aspects of a culture were exterpated.

Eons of the subtle quivering; opening wide her continents and revealing the glistening of her moist nether regions; those moist depths leaving no doubt as to the Nature of that bidding.

In other words, if you're not handheld through a thread, the person who reads these posts to you refuses to read that thread.

It sounds as though he partakes of the twig and berries.
