Before the cruise, everyone said Rebecca was the person to hang with, so when I found her and a group of people taking a walk, I just sorta tagged along, not even know where we were going.

With the possible exception of the helicopter trip to the glacier, it was the best decision I've ever made... I NEVER would have seen the things I saw otherwise. :halo:

Take one intrepid leader....

Add some willing followers... (and gee, does anyone wonder who Elaine is talking too?)

Rebecca made sure we saw some of the more authentic Alaskan businesses.

(I have to say... the liquor store was so fascinating that we had to stop in it TWICE!)

We all knew that bears did this in the woods, but did you know JREFers do too?

Eventually, I asked where we were going. (Eventually being after about an hour of walking. Uphill. In the rain.)

"To Totem Park, it's just up the street!"

At some point after that, VPescado asked someone on the street if we were headed the right direction, and he assured us, oh yes, it was about a mile and 1/2 away...

Are we there yet?

YES!! We found Totem Park. In an incredible oversight, I didn't take pictures of what everyone DID there... sit around on the bench until the bus was about to get there...

After sitting on the benches for a while, we moved to the bus stop...

(Bus stop photo shamelessly stolen from Rebecca's pictures :halo: )

It wasn't just any bus though. It was THE BUS.

And gosh.... guess where we got off the bus?

You'd think that all that adventure and excitement would be the end of it, but Rebecca, being Rebecca, found a swell little hole in the wall shopping experience for us!!

However, I do have to admit, there really was no sarcasm intended when I said it was fun, and there were plenty of pretty things to see and photograph too, but if I included too many of them, it would sort of spoil the mood...

:newlol :newlol :newlol Great thread, Mommipoo. :)

If you were trying to make those of us who didn't go on the cruise happy, it worked. Sort of. Your pictures are so good they make the mundane breathtaking. Thanks.
