The Amnesiac God Defense

I've been giving this a great deal of thought, and may now state with certainity that God is not non-existent, or a figment of people's imaginations, he is just forgotten.

By himself actually. One day he was looking at the mess of the world, and realizing he couldn't flood us again and drown all the defenseless creatures, that he would just like to forget it all. Of course, his omnipotent powers kicked in at that point and made him forget it all, himself included.

Since forgotten gods is the subject, I'll take this opportunity to once again plug Neil Gaiman's American Gods. (Neil should probably put Upchurch and I on the payroll :D)

Glad you stopped in. I was inspired by that fellow saying he'd like to write a short story about your experience with Mom, where I got to thinking, "What if God was MdeC's Mom, but she had forgotten she was God?"

Heh. I just found that post. And trust me, she hasn't forgotten. :D

Sorry to have to say this, but that doesn't convince me at all. According to the rules of this forum, if you want to prove the existence of God, you have to use weird sentences no other person can understand.

Since your argument is clear and easy to understand, it can't be a valid proof of God's existence, according to the forum's rules.

I may could give you some credit since your argument is not really an argument, but just an assertion, but that doesn't count either, since you didn't try to hide that fact.

But what are my chances of a book about the idea being a bestseller in a Christian bookstore?

He's all-powerful, right? Why can't he flood us again...or as many times as it takes to "get it right"? Since he's God, he doesn't even have to leave any evidence that there was ever more than one flood. :)

Quiet, you fool! You don't want to give God any ideas, do you?

Sorry, I can't think of any witty answer. The unwitty answer is probably no.

Now could you please, please post something completely unwitty too? I am waiting for an unwitty post from you since you adapted this signature. Then I could answer with

:k:

I smite you with the great sword 'cluebringer'.

Nah, God is dead. I killed him with silver bullets and a stake through the heart last Wedensday.

But did you remember to stuff his mouth with roses and sever his head?

But you see according to my Divine Theory, he just forgot all about that. Problem solved.

The one area that's troubling me now is if God willed himself into forgetfullness, did he also lose his omnipotent powers in the process? It strikes me that an amnesiac who's unaware of his own omnipotence could be rather dangerous. Where's that Rapture Ready hiding behind a stonewall looking out smiley when you need it?
