Time magazine has done a story on the most influential Christian evangelicals in the US.

Observations -

- Except for 1-2 Blacks and 1-2 single women, they're all White males.
- They all seem to have written books, hosting radio/tv or started organizations catering to the religious right wing. A couple of them are presidential advisors.
- They all seem to have gotten rich doing so.

It reminds me of the "New Age" type thing, where crystal power people go to Sedona Arizona or wherever rich people gather and sell them healing crystals and channel spirits that give advice. Or the Indian gurus that the Beatles and everybody fell in love with in the 1960s.

I don't see any difference between Christian "power" and crystal power's hold over the ignorant.

If Richard John Nehaus and Rick Santorum count as Evangelicals, then I'm wondering what criteria they used.

If by 'Evangelical' they mean right-wing Christian, then I guess we shouldn't be so surprised that all of the evangelicals are right-wingers.

Aren't Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton closer to Evangelical Christians (theologically?) than Nehaus or Santorum?

As a side note, I did the power and lighting design on Joyce Meyer's church/office/TV Studio/phone banks, and the warehouse from where they copy and ship their motivational tapes.
