I was wondering about aligning one's bed with the Earth's magnetic field as described in the commentary.

What would happen at the US South Pole base, where the magnetic field must be aligned largely vertically?

Should they just hang sleeping bags on the wall?

If so- would that be head up...or...

You have to wonder about the rationale of having the magnetic field pass up through your ass and out the top of your head (or vice versa) as opposed to in through your forehead and out through your occiput (or vice versa).

Actually unless you are near the half way line between the North and South magnetic poles the magnetic field is not horizontal. It will be at a angle between horizontal and vertical. So does this mean I should have my bed at that angle too?

For this very reason, I suspend myself at the precise angle for my part of the planet using chains and pulleys. The chains are coated with with tungsten dioxide (WOO) which greatly amplifies the corrective power of the Earth's magnetic field. The only drawback is the discomfort factor which forces me to get most of my sleep at work but nobody's noticed yet.

A better idea would be to wind some wire around yourself and stick a few amps through it. Enough turns and the resulting magnetic field should be quite a bit bigger than the Earth's magnetic field. You get more benefits, and you won't have to worry about aligning yourself.

How amusing...

He thinks an artificial magnetic field is the same as a natural magnetic field.
