This morning when I got to work I booted up my computer and noticed that my voicemail light on my phone was lit. Since I knew I had a bit of a wait for my computer to get going I decided to tackle the voicemail. I don't get many voicemails, most people email me or IM me if they can't reach me by phone at work. Additionally, I use my work phone solely for work, I do not even give my work phone number out to family or friends (although if they have my business card they have it). Personal stuff is always handled on my cell phone. So I listened to the message expecting that it was someone from one of the west coast offices who forgot that I am on the east coast and was trying to reach me after I left for the day. It was not a work message. It was not even from anyone I knew. It was a telephone solicitation from Billy Graham's grandson (in recorded form) asking me to contribute a story to the Thank you Billy site to encourage his grandfather. I did not get long into the call before I realized it was a TS call and hit skip and went back to work business. Later however, I knew I had to listen to the whole message and I laughed so loud. They really, really messed up when they purchased their TS list from whichever marketing group they chose. This was a business line and on top of that they got the desk of one of the few (maybe the only) atheists in the company. It made me grin, they wasted money on me :D

I knew I would have to check the website out and here is the link for those who want to see the site:

Now I am curious, how many other people got this TS yesterday and today because I am hard pressed to know how they chose my work number when the number not used for anything but work and is not published anywhere but within my company. Also, I do not get wrong number calls on my phone, the number has been owned by the company for quite a while and as far as I know, no one else in the office received this vm. Even email harvesting seems unlikely, especially because I get NO spam at work at all.

Now the superstitious would say this was a message from god, but for me it was just my Thursday morning giggle.
