"Ted Cruz has created more atheists in two weeks than I have in decades,” Dawkins said."

:D

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—The Republican Presidential candidate Ted Cruz’s constant references to Jesus Christ in his speeches and campaign ads are sparking a strong interest in atheism among millions of Americans, atheist leaders report.

I am not amazed at all, that it's people like Cruz who show the true colors of superstitious beliefs. And that's exactly what it's happening.

So I guess we should all pray that Ted Cruz remains, at the very least, relevant in the media, as he's really educating the public here.

I imagine that somewhere there are campaign aides telling him "That's not a bug, its a feature - after all the atheists and fair-weather Christians leave the party, then we will be able to lead the remaining Republicans to victory."

I really hate to mention this because I so want it to be true, but:

Andy Borowitz is a New York Times best-selling author and a comedian who has written for The New Yorker since 1998. In 2001, he created the Borowitz Report, a satirical news column that has millions of readers around the world, for which he won the first-ever National Press Club award for humor. The Borowitz Report was acquired by The New Yorker in 2012.

While it is meant as satire, I would not be surprised if it is not making people tired of every third word from Cruz and other Republican candidates being "Jesus"

They're only interested in the Red vote. No reason, they believe, to reach out to the Blue voters. It will be "government of many of the people, by many of the people and screw many of the people." Abe would be very sad.

If Cruz is the first Christo-fascist some people have heard then they've been living under rocks for decades.

Welll.... I guess the joke is on us.

Regardless, it can't be more than the joke that Ted Cruz is himself ;)

Ted Cruz and his ilk are individually as funny as a single Cancer cell and as much of a joke as a single individual Ebola virus.

Even a small drip of water when combined with all the other drips can eventually erode away the mightiest of mountains.

Even the measly termite when combined with the gnawing hive can cause a whole Fort to rot away and collapse.

It is strange if you compare the foundation of the Republican party to where it is now. Women who were powerful in getting the right to vote were largely Republican and now the Republican party is now anti-women's rights.

They are neither anti nor pro anything... they are nothing but prostitutes.

It is their pimps who are anti and pro stuff and they decide whom their girls bed.

Those hustlers have decided that tricking them out to the Christian right is more profitable for the current season of the real-virtuality show.

Much like in many of the shows on TV these days.... last season's villain managed to survive and in this season s/he is actually the ally of the good guys against a newer villain who will also manage to survive and in the following season will be the ally of the good guys against the older villain who reverts to being a villain all over again.

A long while back everyone I knew was talking about how the TV series 24 is a great series and everyone was telling me how I really ought to see it.

Now that I have a bit more time on my hands and that it is free on Amazon Prime I decided to watch it..... it is a load of B.S. .... but there was one thing that I found astounding.

In season 3 episode 10 aired in Jan 7 2004 they have a Black president who is trying to pass a Health Care Bill and is being blocked by opposition.

Was that show imitating reality FOUR years (in fact more like 7) before reality caught up with it?

Now that I remember, there was this well known journalist whose name I forgot, who's a Theist (probably Christian) who completely disagreed with Ken Ham and hos famous debate against Bill Nye. And like him, other theists also publicly announced that they didn't agree with Ken Ham. So there are, in fact, people in the public media whose personal take on Religion is so bamboozingly stupid, that they start to corrode the general belief in such religion.

If Priests buggering little children right within the supposed Hallowed Grounds of the Body Of Christ (i.e. the church) under the gazing eyes of its allegedly living and ever present Shepherd (i.e. Jesus) did not corrode the general belief in Jesus, I doubt some crazy preacher is going to be any more effectively corrosive.

There is always the Not True Scotsman fallacy to alleviate any possible Cognitive Dissonance.... and let's not forget the others ... "free will" and "who are you to question god's plan" and "god can do what he wants" and "how do you know that by not preventing the buggering he prevented a bigger disaster" etc. etc. etc.

No.

The fact that some religious folk disagree with other religious folk is not evidence that some people are so stupid that they drive others away from religion.

The Borowitz Report? That's a bit like citing The Onion as a source.

Hey the Onion revealed J K Rowling's satisfaction that Harry Potter was converting kids to Satan, her Lord.

Some religious believed that, some atheists believe this. People are dumb.

Most publicly touted religion is prima facie evidence that most religious "thinking" is inadmissible as evidence in the court of reality.
