Hi All
Towards the end of last year Richard Saunders informed you of our efforts to take critical thinking into the science classrooms by creating a school science show called Mystery Investigators. We look at paranormal claims, reproduce them, and use these claims in a fun way to demonstrate how science concepts are applied in everyday life.
One of the Prescribed Focus Areas set out in the NSW Science Curriculum involves evaluation of evidence. In this show we investigate paranormal claims and evaluate the evidence that is available. We look at Fire Walking, Water Dowsing, Spoon Bending (of course!) amongst others.
Since we want the students to continue to take an interest in critical thinking after we have left the school we created a magazine for students called The Mystery Investigator. We are encouraging the students we visit to contribute stories of their own investigations. We also welcome contributions from anyone else who conducts an investigation.
The second issue of The Mystery Investigator is now available for download from the MI website.

This issue contains several articles - one from our good friend Lynne Kelly. The Juniors have contributed yet again with an article from Gillian (my daughter) and a report of the most recent Mind Body $pirit festival in Sydney from Junior Ratbag Belinda Bowditch. Hopefully many of you will remember Ratbag Peter Bowditch from his talk at TAM2. We were also delighted to include an article from an overseas correspondent and professional mentalist Rod Robison.
If any of you are engaged in the area of critical thinking in education please feel free to download and use our magazine. Australia is a long way from most of you but we'd like to share our contribution with as many kids as possible. If you do use this material please let us know how it was received.
Regards
