As most of you know this pair have become heroes of a sort to the kooks, getting regular appearances on Alex Jones, and appearing via telephone at Trooferfest 2007.

The story is light on details, but one thing that we can all be pleased about; apparently nobody ended up getting killed:

Ed and Elaine Brown were convicted on federal tax charges in January and refused to turn themselves in to authorities when they were sentenced in April to five years and three months in prison.

It was not immediately clear how they were taken into custody.

"We had no indication that the Browns intended to voluntarily surrender, so we had to move forward with an operation that promised the safest possible outcome. That day was today," U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier said in a news release.

Or so I heard...or maybe it was a dream?
 
According to this article there's supposed to be a press conference Friday.

How completely anti-climactic, but in a good way (for the rational people, anyway).
 
It's about time.

I'm glad that it ended without anyone being killed.

ETA: And I wonder how many further charges will follow as a result of the "standoff" and how much longer their jail sentences will be in the end.

Come on, already. Let's get the betting pool up and running on how long it will take the twoofers to start raising a ruckus over this. We gotta do it quick before the kiddies spoil it by turning out before we get our bets down.

Oh, wait, this is only Friday morning. That gives us about twelve hours, at least.

People who claim that the 16th amendment was never ratified are idiots.

Especially when it was ratified with something like a surplus of 5 states of the required 3/4s.
 
I find this sad. Had every good citizen of the US refused to pay taxes, there would be no money to pay the police, and Ed and Elaine Brown would not have been arrested. Shows how right they were [/sarcasm]
 
I don't see any armed mobs storming down the streets of Sacramento to seize the State Capitol,so I guess the Revolution has been postponed,,again.
It's amazing how the twoofers can take a couple of loons with a crackpot argument as to why they should not pay taxes,and turn them into some kind of symbols of government oppression.
